Messaging: Reopening

Messaging sometimes doesn't reopen when we'd expect it to, and there's no API call to request it to open. I'd like to test some workarounds to re-establish the connection. Unfortunately(?!) I couldn't get messaging to fail to reconnect in my test project. I turned Bluetooth off and the connection closed, but it opened again when I turned Bluetooth back on.

If anyone knows of a reliable way to cause messaging to close and not reopen, please reply!
