Notifying users of new features or updates to clocks/apps

Is there a recognised way to inform existing users of Clock faces or Apps when developers make updates or add new features as to what those features or changes are?

There seems to be no announcement or release process and it relies purely on the user manually going to the Gallery tile in the Fitbit App to check.

At best the only thing that is shown is Update without any indication of what is getting updated or what has changed.

The description for the item in the Gallery only shows the current state, not what has changed.
