It would be helpful to have a basic interface to read raw, minimally-processed sensor data from the EDA, EKG, light sensor, temp sensor etc. This could be implemented like the accelerometer interface, i.e. the app reads single smaples or batches representing a basic physical quantity like current temperature.
Use cases: This type of raw data is very valuable for researchers using Fitbit. (we are a neuroscience lab using Fitbits for sleep research). It can also be used to develop ladvanced algorithms for things like lucid dreaming (sensors can determine optimal time to wake a user) self-quantification (apps can provide finer-grained measurements of activities), exercise tracking, and meditation.

Some great health supporting application ideas are simply not possible without raw access.
Is there a commercial background why this data is not available for all developers or is it that Fitbit is afraid of medical claims?
