imagePicker component is changing the image original orientation

I am following the example on the documentation https://github.com/Fitbit/sdk-photo-picker and experiencing a wrong orientation of the photo when testing on my phone and fitbit, it is happening on landscape oriented pictures, portrait seems to work fine.

This does not happen on the simulator.

 

Phone: Samsung Galaxy s9

Fitbit: Versa 2

Very odd. Could be something to do with embedded EXIF information. Some environments use it; some ignore it.
