Sense 2 hasn't synced lately

Usually my phone app and Sense2 have recently synced.  If it is way off, I restart the phone and it is fine.  It was synced this morning.  This afternoon I was wearing the watch, but reading on my phone for awhile. When I checked the app, it said they hadn't synced for 19 hours.  Restarting the phone got them to sync.

But now I see that the info under "today" was all blank.  I changed the choices, but what now shows up wasn't what I chose.

I've had this smart watch 2 months.  The only thing it is good at is making me feel that I'm smarter than it is.

Any suggestions?  How can it not sync when the phone and watch are only 6" apart?  How can the app occasionally show more steps than the watch?

Hi @LOIj, thanks for stopping by, I hope you're doing well.

Let me help you with the syncing issues you a re experiencing with your Sense 2 and your Fitbit app. Thank you for all the troubleshooting you have already tried.

If the app doesn't sync automatically, attempt to sync manually by following the instructions in our help article How do Fitbit devices sync their data? > How do I manually sync my tracker or watch?

In addition, there are a few steps that we recommend for this kind of issues in our help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync? They are listed chronologically, so check them and see if they are useful to resolve your issue.

Thanks for the answer.  Yes, I was able to sync.  But my question is deeper than simple syncing.  The directions always say that the watch and phone should be nearby each other.  What exactly does that mean?  If my watch in on my left wrist and the phone is in my left hand for quite awhile, why would they not sync automatically?  Why would the two be synced at 9 a.m. but 6 hours later, why would they say that they hadn't synced in 19 hours?  There are so many things that one can see on the phone and also on the watch, such as notifications, so why would you need them on the watch if you have to have the phone nearby to make the system work properly?  I feel like I am missing the point of all the things that the watch can do.

I am also confused, I should not have to restart my phone and my watch every day just to get it to sync up, its rediculous. the information for connection sometimes gets transferred over but it will not sync. Every time I have to restart the watch the first time it attempts to connect it show a big red x and then the second time it connects, but even then it most of the time will still say it hasn't synced all day. Is it a data issue?

Also every now and then it will not track my sleep, the main reason I got the Fitbit series at all. I upgraded from the versa 4 because the watches normally last me the year before the battery life starts to lessen. This watch is causing more problems than it should. Can I get a replacement sense 2 to try and fix the problem.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app at one point. I hate losing data when this happens, its ridiculous.

Three possibilities: the watch or app is kookoo, we users are not capable of understanding the FitBit or it is a poorly designed system.  I expected more, but maybe it is just too complicated and designed by a committee.

I have never restarted my sense2, but when the app claims it isn't synced, even if the steps agree, I restart the phone, and then it says that it is synced (almost always. )   In the 2.5 months I've had this watch I've looked up many help topics.  NOT ONE TIME has the help matched the app pages.  Often I find the right section on a different app page.  I was directed just recently to see if the phone app was was set up to collect step data, and I was given specific directions on finding where that is.  Nope, nothing matched.  I still sometimes get steps on the app that are higher then on the phone.

The watch info states that steps are counted by 3 methods.  But if I stand still and move my arm, the number goes up. Ditto when I'm reading while sitting in the Lazy Boy chair.  But while walking while pushing a cart in both a grocery store and big box store Friday,  there were no steps counted, though I'm certain I walked 1000+ steps within the stores. I'm a bit disabled, and I find that walking while pushing the cart is good for my walking, better than walking with my cane.  I'm glad the Fitbit counts my steps around the house because many pedometers don't do well with slow walking.

But the FitBit doesn't register "floors" for me apparently because I go up slowly.  I live in a 2 story house with a basement, but the system claims I went upstairs 4 times in 2 months. Supposedly it measures altitude somehow. ???

Some of the health measures work, some don't, except last Friday they did.  Yesterday and today, half the measures were 0.

The sleep measure seems OK.  I think that the trick to that system is to put in the sleep goals, so the watch will "know" when you think you will be sleeping.

Well, the FITBIT seems to have been over hyped.  I just get tired of trying to baby sit it.

I have this issue multiple times a week.  I should not be having to restart my phone and watch to get it to sync.  Often it syncs the steps but not the sleep until I do all of the restarting steps.  It is ridiculous.
