Calories Burning at a Standard Rate?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Normally, my calories burned/day varies. But is usually over 2,000 calories, closer to 2,400 on days I exercise. A few days ago, my calories started burning at a standard rate of 60 cal/hour: 1,417/day for 3 days straight. I even logged exercise on these days that show more than 60 cal/hour but my calories still just show that I steadily burned 60 cals every hour. This happened overnight with no apparent cause. Any ideas what’s happening?

I'm guessing that's your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) calorie burn.  Look at one of your days before this started at calorie burn graph overnight at minimum to see if that was also 60 cal/hour.  Check if you are getting any heart rate reading.  If not, if might revert to BMR, but I don't see any way to turn off heart rate in Sense 2 settings.

BMR makes sense but I’m definitely getting a heart rate reading. This screenshot is an exercise from the same day my calories logged a standard 60/hr. And if I look at my watch actively, it’s always reading a different and seemingly accurate BPM reading.

And I assume it is syncing so you can look at today's heart rate chart and see it is still not constant, thought I guess above chart proves that.

Check your weight, though that wouldn't really make sense, then try a restart .

Don't really expect that to help either, but always good thing to try; never does any harm and sometimes helps.

Let me know after try that, and I'll keep thinking.

I am able to sync and the calories on my watch match the calories on the app. I checked my weight and it’s accurate. A reset didn’t change anything unfortunately. It’s just so peculiar. I’ve had many fitbits over the years and have never ran into an issue like this.

It's got me stymied also.  Did you check if that 60 cal/hr seem to match your sleeping/BMR cal burn before this started?

I'll ask some knowledgeable Fitbit acquaintances if this makes any sense to any of them.

60 seems to be about average but it’s also 1 cal/min. So I have to wonder if that’s what it is as well. Yesterday was the same story. Successfully tracked a workout but calories show a standard 60 cal/hour. 🤷🏻‍:female_sign:

Just saw another post of Sense 2 user looks like maybe same issue, though didn't provide as much information.  I flagged the moderator who responded there that it looked like your case and maybe it was a new bug.  No idea if he might look at your but hoping.

Wonder if you have tried contacting Fitbit support?  Doubt they would have an answer but worth trying I guess.  As last resort, you could try factory reset from Settings menu, about Sense 2.  If try, make sure to do sync first, you would have to log back in after and all your personalized settings would be gone, with no guarantee it would fix the problem. Or maybe want to wait to try that until Support recommends it in case it causes a problem.

I have the same and in addition no steps logged in the details. Every time calories are showing at standard burn rate, steps/distance is missing too.

last time they properly synchronized was a bit after midnight before I went to sleep. Nothing ever since. Total steps are there, details are missing.

Usually if I reset the watch after a few hours the calories and steps show up. Posted many times about sync issues and had a chat with support on 2 different occasions...no solution.
Do you have steps logged properly?

Ugh that’s super annoying. Luckily my steps seem to be logging fine. It’s just my calories.

I am also having the same issue.

There are random periods throughout the day where steps, and distance data are missing, and calories data is running at BMR even though I was active during that time.

It has been happening for a few days now. After resetting the watch the missing data usually comes back after a few hours.

Screenshots here showing missing data from today between 12 and 4pm.

I am using an iPhone 13 with iOS 17.2.1

Have you received any solution yet? I emailed support and got nothing. They closed my ticket and said I hadn’t responded but had absolutely responded so I don’t know. I’ve had a FitBit for YEARS. I got the Charge HR in 2015 and have been upgrading regularly ever since. I’ve always felt like my daily calorie number was as accurate as it could be and now, boom, out of nowhere, my calorie number is standardized. I am so disappointed and annoyed.

After having this issue for a number of days I decided to do a factory reset (Settings>About sense 2>factory reset). So far that has sorted the problem of the calorie data running at BMR.  It took around 10 minutes for the watch to return to previous state after the reset and some settings you will need to change back yourself to the way you like it, but so far it has fixed my issues I was having and the calorie data seems to be accurate. I hope this helps.
