Can't pair Sense 2 second hand

Hi

 I just replaced my sense with a sense 2, bought 2nd hand from a local friend here and it was working properly for him. 

I ensured that he unpaired the sense 2 and reset the watch. NOW when  I paired with it ,

it gives me this error " cannot pair : This device has been locked and cannot be paired. This may happen if a device is reported lost or if a warranty replacement has been issued. If you believe this is an error, please contact Customer Support."

He assured me that he bought it new and was the only user. 

Can someone please help in pairing this with my app?
