Energy burned calculation incorrect

The energy burned calculation seems inconsistent (and today seems completely wrong).  As of 12:20pm, I've walked 8 miles, 16K steps, 194 zone minutes (brisk walk burning 297 calories, one burning 225, one burning 81, moderate burning a total of 83 - so a total burn from activity of 686).  The tracker is indicated I have burnt a total of 995.  By contrast, yesterday I had 18K steps, 203 zone minutes, 8.8 miles and burned close to 2000 calories by the same point in the day.  Essentially, I have basically matched yesterday's activity (95% of zone minutes, 89% of steps) and have 50% of the energy burn.  Any thoughts on what might be happening?

Thank you !!

I've noticed similar differences but i'm not sure if this has anything to do with whether your heart rate being up alters how the device claims you're burning fat calories.
