Don't buy FitBit anymore, Google has taken steps to systematically remove features.

and is stripping down the FitBit functionality. Source TechRadar: “Unfortunately, now that Alphabet has the Google Pixel Watch equipped with Fitbit's health tech, it doesn't need four different flavors of Fitbit. Instead of ceasing production of Fitbit watches, Google has taken steps to systematically remove features.

For example, Fitbit announced the Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 as new premium smartwatches in September of last year. They were equipped with the "refreshed interface"... which had fewer features and apps than the old interface. For example, both the original Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 had the ability to listen to music offline through certain streaming services also the snore and noise function. In the new interface, that option was nowhere to be found and that interface has now also come to older Fitbit watches.

Alphabet has even prevented third parties from making apps for Fitbit. The only apps you can currently get are those from Fitbit itself. Instead, the focus will be on Google's own Wear OS, which does support third-party apps. Of course, Google wants to attract as many users as possible to its new Pixel Watch. Be honest, what better way to do that than to push an established brand of great smartwatches and activity trackers completely out of that segment?”

Hi @Loutre56 - while it is true the Sense 2 and Versa 4 are not as complete as the previous versions, the logic for doing so is far from clear

The Pixel watch is not a competitor to the Fitbit brand, due to its poor battery life.

You need to look at other brands, such as Garmin, to get equivalent or better battery life and more features.

Thanks for your comment and suggestion. The point is that Google incorporates FitBit and that is at the expense of FitBit's functionalities. The first steps have been taken by Google, also see "Move your account to Google" in the settings since today. Given the high subscription price of the Premium account, the user should expect that at least the previous functions would be included in the new Sence 2 model. Especially considering the Sleep profile and Advanced sleep analyzes options in Premium and the fact that snoring and sounds are not recorded.

I wonder if it is legal for google, with the purchase of fitbit,  to not continue to provide the same contractual options that fitbit provided at least until  the customer’s annual premium renewal?  If you signed up for premium because you wanted the snore feature and now it is no longer provided, it seems you should be able to get your money back at a minimum?

You do realize that Google bought Fitbit 30 months ago.

As for your complaints. Have you left feedback?

Yes, of course. Still, I expect FitBit to make a statement as to why the snoring and noise functions have been removed. Important function for people with sleep apnea. Premium account can therefore be cheaper because sleep analysis provides less information.

I suspected that was what’s going on. “Engulf and Devour” rides again.
