Seeing as my original post was buried in the Google assistant thread, even though its unrelated. I've decided to post it again.
I purchased the Sense 2 for my wife. We were aware that Google assistant would likely be missing (this is not our complaint), and she was ok with that (although I thought differently).
To our surprise as you can imagine, we were shocked to learn that Google assistant isn't the only downgrade. Let me list the downgrades so that other users can save themselves some time.
I'm sorry but to me (and my non techie wife) this is an outright downgrade to the Versa 3 my wife was currently using. That's right the Sense 2 is a downgrade even on the Versa 3. Fitbit should be ashamed of themselves, they are acting no differently to a scam artist and will not be getting a dime more out of me.
Good luck and think twice before parting with your money.

This company is becoming a joke, there is not a single information that is consistent between the sources (moderators, support, social account official channels, official documentation, blog posts, manuals, box description...)

I fully agree and have started the return process for mine today

You won't even check the accuracy of the device? Do you even need advanced health monitoring, or you just wanted a fancy smartwatch?

For those in the USA, I believe companies are required to refund sales tax when an item is returned/refunded.

@SunsetRunner here are some initial reviews that speak about accuracy.

@N8teGee I know these reviews. I'm not interested that much in GPS, but more care about body monitoring.

Thanks @N8teGee for the link
It really seems that Fitbit didn't even bother to address the real issue of Fitbit Sense 1, the HR sensor. Look at this screenshot taken from the linked video that clear shows the sensor is still the same random numbers generator.

@SunsetRunner The trouble is most of this body monitoring is based off of the HR sensor. If that's not accurate, what else isn't?

@N8teGee That's a good point, but to be honest, when it comes to HR sensor then only Apple and some Huawei watches are accurate in most scenarios. Even Garmin struggle to provide accurate numbers (see The Quantified Scientist reviews on YouTube for specific numbers).

@SunsetRunner With Garmin and others there is the possibility to pair and use a chest strap HRM during such challenging activities. Unfortunately Fitbit hasn't been interested in allowing external sensors, even though I seem to remember it being quite a popular request over the years.
I do believe most of Fitbit's HRM issues could be solved just by allowing the pairing of an external monitor (as its generally alright for normal low intensity activities).

@SunsetRunner one thing is to have HR slightly different or slightly slow in response, another is to have values that do not have any sense (see what I did here). This video shows very well what many words can't express clearly.

So it's confirmed that third apps won't be supported? Yeah, Fitbit is losing me as a customer. I won't be purchasing the Sense 2 or Versa 4. I'm done. Actually, I'll probably buy another Versa 2 and keep it tucked away until my current Versa 2 joins the choir invisible.

Ooof. “We don’t have an estimate” usually means it’s not something that will ever happen, but “we don’t want to make everyone mad”.
The fact that there are Fitbit reps lurking in here and are not saying anything or attempting to do any damage control pretty much seals the coffin. I mean a small-mid sized forum like this should have community engagement. Isn’t that what interns are for? Does anyone actually work at “Fitbit” or is it just a skeleton crew?

I am afraid Fitbit has been mugged by Google as it has not many innovative developments itself in Wear OS. Sadly it feels like the end of Fitbit smartwatches.
And a move to the Google Pixel watch is back to Apple type battery life and probably a muddled, fragmented app.

@moothee I honestly don't think anyone knows what's going on. I mean if Fitbit have dropped the features then fine (albeit a strange move). They can at least inform users of the decision and clear up all of this speculation and guess work. It's like decoding some strange riddle right now. Do we win anything if we are successful?
