my watch is telling me to log into Fitbit app > Profile Page > set up a device. This instruction fails at the first hurdle. Where is the **ahem**ing Profile Page?  Last time I purchase a Firbit watch.  Since google changed the interface, the app is totally usless. I do not expect to get any support from fitbit. So **ahem** it, I will buy another make.

Which platform are you using? Usually the Profile Page/Account Settings icon is located in the top left corner where the mini version of your profile picture is.
