According to the current﴾≜ver2.0 ⊱ accessed today﴿ usersߵ manual for the Sense 2

❪located at https://help.fitbit.com/manuals/manual_sense_2_en_US.pdf ⇽ https://help.fitbit.com/manuals/sense_2/Content/manuals/html/Get%20Started.htm❫, the capabilities of its adjacently derived location (i.e., via Bluetooth instead of built-in GPS receiver) get described per the following excerpted scope (also pasted as a screenshot):

Dynamic GPS on Sense 2 allows the watch to set the GPS type at the start of the exercise. Sense 2 attempts to connect to the GPS sensors on your phone to preserve battery life. If your phone isn’t nearby or moving, Sense 2 uses built-in GPS

This agrees with the overview comparing capabilities of the common Fitbit-compatible devices ❪located at https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1874.htm?highlight=Sense ⇾ «Does my Fitbit device have GPS?»﹠c.❫ as well as their product‐comparison feature ❪utilized within https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/products ⇾Select ‹Sense 2› ⅋ ⟮≧1 other ⦗smartwatch⦘⊔⦗tracker⦘ from collection of six distinct⁏ which happen to ⌸⦃⦗Pixel𝖯,Pixel𝖡,Versa4,Charge5,Luxe,Inspire3⦄ per Fitbitߵs allocation of them.. funnily that thar‐designating newest Charge iteration as mere ‘tracker’, perhaps to try à la innuendo at justifying higher price of others deemed ‘smartwatch‘ outright⟯❫, each of also which I have attached relevant screenshot from today.

However, according to @t.parker at posting https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Sense-2/Does-Sense-2-have-Connected-GPS/m-p/5246456/highlight/true#M... from just under a year ago (with 17 total replies, and which has﹘like abhorrently many others﹘since been closed without a reason provided) the aforementioned "overview" article had then indicated contrary —although zhe shared also screenshot of the "compare" spection conveying same as does still it now. And as @Guy_ mentions ❪therein, permalinkʼd by https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Sense-2/Does-Sense-2-have-Connected-GPS/m-p/5249320/highlight/true#M..., the optionalities of Fitbitߵs trackers in general are sorely lacking. Why not have a dynamic strengthened by simulteneity (for enhanced accuracy etc.), or atleast more control (seemingly like newer Charge). doesn't. need GLONASS, Galileo, or WAAS, since cellular-enhanced phone GPS is usually superior anyhow; but please enable to pick between BuiltIn and Phone mode at onset of an activity, so that the user isn't stuck using a a resource suboptimal for the setting when the more robust infrastructure is already there, with a appropriate software to leverage it.. or almost, perhaps just a matter of executing implementation?

That said, they seem maybe to have some cognizance of the current claims surrounding S2's tracking functionality, seeing evidently as the manual for S2 and its representstion on an overview page have been updated to reflect a.. well, tripling‐down.  What's more: the current manualߵs veverbiage suggests maybe that the phone‐pulling mode switches into effect only upon the smartwatchߵs battery charge dropping sufficiently low (based on whatever parameter⸂s⸃ that aren't thar explicitly specified). I have never noticed my S2 autoconnect to my phone when its battery is real low and my phoneߵs Bluetooth (and necessary background permissions engaged), although I don't often let it go that low. If someone has had any success in this matter, I would muchly like to learn of the details. Otherwise, this smells to me like false advertising.

Hopefully my gripes above have been adequately articulated and will induce some helpful insight ۽ actioning.

@Victamon  Dynamic GPS is a part of the 194.61 firmware update that was announced in July.  I think Fitbit paused the rollout.  I haven't received an update notice for my Sense 2.  A friend got the notice, then it disappeared.

Ah, then I suppose that explains mine lack! Thankyou for cluing me ֊in, @LZeeW.

Its current firmware version shows as ⸌60.20001.⸍184.52, which clearly is below the newest ⸌ຯ⸍194.61 version featuring (among some other things) this enhancement (as indicated by @LizzyFitbit a couple rolled months ago, at https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Sense-2/Sense-2-Firmware-Update-[VERSION №]/m-p/5405995/highlight/true#M10676 inwhich ‹[VERSION №]› gets replaced by ‹194.61› with a hyphen-minus instead of period). I wonder how long they plan on taking to get this update completely rolled‑out‽, as evidently it was first announced back in end of June. I wonder further if freshly‐commissioned units (new, or less likely certified refurbished) directly from Fitbit come all pre‑installed with current then‐newest firmware update, or instead at back of proverbial line, or somewhere inbetween, or more arbitrary (or determined by what⳻). For I have a warranty exchange authorization (from now two days ago.. with no deadline for acceptance specified therewith), approved because one of the metal clips on the underside of the gadget has detached (of which ofc I showed proof to an agent).
