Is Google planning to kill FitBit?

I was an avid Fitbit user and a promoter of Fitbit products - they have improved my health over the years. But I am so disappointed with recent Fitbit updates - the latest upgrades. Is Google planning to kill FitBit? Horrible new app upgrade and issues with sync. Did you take feedback from users? Also, I was forced to sync with Google account. Also, my history before 2022 has been erased. Unreliable after Google took over. Custoner support is poor. Let me know if you need help, I am a market researcher and my company can help you set up a community for a 360 degree feedback of your and your competitors' consumers. Unless you want to replace fitbit with Google smartwatch that I am not sure if it is any good.

Hi @rohan1729

Good question, but one none of us here can answer.

What do we know? Well they have spent some time and resources redesigning the Fitbit app, so we can probably assume that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I think at this stage it's more likely Google Fit might be killed. It does look like Google are reducing the hardware options on the Fitbit side. Personally I don't think we will see another Fitbit smart watch, however we have just seen the Charge 6 released. Whether or not that indicates a long term road map for the tracker lines, only time will tell.

That is such a bummer to read. I haven't been staying up on who owned Fitbit and that Alphabet bought them and now Google is running Fitbit into the ground. I have loved my Fitbit fitness trackers/watches for about 9 years now and was just about to by myself the Versa 4. I might as well just stick with my Versa 2 because it still works very well, though the new app is awful, I just wanted an upgrade for technology purposes. Now I figure why bother? I tried the Apple watch for many months recently (got one for my birthday), but for as expensive as an Apple watch is, I don't need all the fluff apps and just want a basic fitness watch. Fitbit has always been THE BEST in my opinion and better than the Apple watch for several hundred dollars less. I am extremely disappointed to that Google is running Fitbit now and will not be getting another Fitbit watch and never in a million years will I get a Google tracker.
