Along with the other metrics like steps, heart rate etc, Why doesn’t the watch show up the sleep data directly in the device tile itself ?
Every morning after waking up, I need to sync it first with the phone app then only the watch starts showing up the sleep data in the watch?
it makes me thinking what’s the source of truth, device or the phone app ?
keep aside the break down of the sleep (rem, deep, awake etc) - that can be seen in the app but an overall status of sleep hours should also be showing up in the watch without any app dependency, am I right or am I right?
It works great in my other 30 euro amazefit watch but not in this 289 euro sense2 watch.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I suspect the device has digital data, but needs the app to turn it into something meaningful to the user, and to assign the sleep score, which is then displayed. But I would think it a nice touch, as well as an easy one to add, if the device at least displayed the number of hours slept. That would be more meaningful than a sleep score.

I totally agree with you. The least we could expect from the device is that it should independently show up the number of sleep hours. That’s all.

totally totally agree with you, I have had this watch for a couple of days and I just tried the sleep data, and guess what? nothing! I had to sync it to the app to see at least how many hours I slept! I changed my garmin for this watch and the fact that I have to be dependable of the app disappointed me. With the garmin it had all this info without being reading it in the app. Besides.. when working out,... there this Hiit workout... and there is no free mode..I mean I don't have these times / intervals you need to choose or choose ! I have my own times, and I don't like that. I have to choose just WORKOUT to keep track of calories and heart rate. bah!
I don't know, we'll see how this goes , not very happy with it until now.

I don't know how much computing is currently done in the watch. However most of the sleep metrics are calculated in the cloud services.
If you want to suggest calculating the sleep hours on the watch, this request would go in the Feature Suggestion Board.
Do a search of the board, it may have already been suggested

Coming from a sense one and my sleep showed up in the morning I didn't have to sync it with the app to make it show up. And then it doesn't show up straight away it still takes like two or three more syncs. Unless I'm missing the issue isn't the problem here that the sleep data isn't showing up on the watch with sense 2. I gave my sense 1 to my wife and her sleep shows up in the morning it doesn't on the sense 2.

Thanks @Rich_Laue
So, if I understand correctly, valid metrics are dependent on both the app and the internet.
I've had it for two months and can only say that it's an expensive flashy watch designed for a Princess.
During the Google acquisition, they just wanted to spit everything out; neither company cared what was delivered. I should have just bought a Garmin in this price range. Leave aside the special metrics, Fitbit is nowhere in the game at this point.

I changed my garmin for this sense 2, and I think I regret it.. don't get me wrong but the gamin is not that great quality for the price either..the buttons bothered me so much, they looked cheap, at least the model I had. So I got the sense on sale so it does not hurt that much but now I miss some info I got from the garmin that this one does not have... hours slept shown without the app, recovery time after excercise ( at least I have not found this on the sense 2).. battery life, etc. So in my personal opinion, one brand has what the other doesn't and vice versa. So for me It all depends on what I want to see on the watch, spend, etc.

@doc579 I'm having the same problem with my sleep data on my Sense 2. A simple sync doesn't fix it for me. I need to force quit my Fitbit app and it's there when I reopen and sync. The same is true for the Weather app.
Fitbit needs to fix this. It's a very bad user experience for a new device.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the same issue, but my Sense 2 shows the hours slept on the watch under "Today", but very often when I wake up it will say "no sleep data, wear the watch to sleep...etc". Syncing to the app does not fix this, but doing a hard reset of the watch (hold button for 10s) and the data appears on reboot. Very irritating to have to reset my watch every day just to get my sleep metrics to display. Yes, I could check this anytime on the app, but why have the data on the watch tile then? This seems broken to me.

My watch would show neither sleep data nor work with weather despite restarting the phone and the watch several times and syncing. The sleep data appears fine in the app though, this seems back to front.
This functioning may be related to the app version because using another phone with a more recent app version it transferred sleep summary to the watch and the weather started working.
However the data shown on the watch tiles in the Today app is very basic, it cannot be expanded, like on prior watches, same goes for SpO2 which only shows a single value. A major backwards step on a newer watch.
This needs improving drastically.

I mean I wasn't very happy with it either for other reasons but now comparing it to the sense 2 ? naahhh I should've kept it.!! and the Today thing in the app..well, yes it's basic and be prepared if you want it for detailed you would have to pay for it hahahh oh God! big mistake have I taken 😪 😫

yes I understand, same happening to me, this is so disappointing. But I do not hard reset, I mean this should not happen, I shouldn't be doing this reset, why? the watch MUST work properly.

If you just got the watch and if you are unhappy with the watch Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy or possibly authorised dealers too, some stores provide 14 to 30 day refunds

Totally totally totally agree! Sleep hours and score should be shown on the watch!
