Notifications - Should the screen light up?

Hello,

I understand the Sense 2 has a bunch of issues but shouldn't the screen automatically light up when I get a notification? The watch vibrates but screen stays dark. If I press the button, then I can see the notice.

Thanks!

"If the user sets the screen to light up for notifications"

That is bogus NO such settings exist in the Sense 2. In the settings you have the choice to wake up the screen by either manually pressing the button or tapping the screen, from your comment it looks like you are using that setting. The ONLY other setting for waking up the screen is by manually button pressing, tapping the screen OR gestures. There is no such thing as light up for notifications.

The question was why does the screen stay dark when notifications arrive? The answer, you HAVE to wake up the screen either by manually pressing the button or doing a gesture otherwise it stays dark. This IS NOT the case with the Sense 1 and other older Fitbit devices. This appeared for the 1st time in the Sense 2 and is idiotic and lacks all kind of understanding by the designers what the user wants. Even worst it could have been done on purpose by Google, only to bring it back in a firmware update and now proclaim it at a grand new feature.

If the user sets the screen to light up for notifications.ive turned this feature off, since I only want the screen turned on when I want to read the screen.

Thank you, that's bizarre. I've owned many fitness watches and they all light up on notifications. At least I can stop looking now.

Hello fitbit users / fitbit sense2 users🙂.  Got my fitbit sense 2 today, and my question is, why would google or the software maker of fitbit sense2 not keep the feature of the device screen lighting up for notifications such as calls, texts, message, and incoming mail. It would be really great for the feature to be brought back. From looking into this, looks like the only way to see this is pressing the side button or tap on the screen to see notifications. Maybe there might soon be firmware update that brings this feature back? Anyone honestly know?

If you would have read the posts here you would have found out that this has never been the case. It ALWAYS was the case from day one that the displaying of notifications required interaction with the watch. I have **ahem**ed about it and in this thread you see it marked as the best answer. Return your Sense 2 and upgrade it to a Sense 1 which works as anticipated notification appears instantaneously upon arrival.

@CascadeHiker you can simply raise and rotate arm. Or I simply rotate wrist.

Personally I don't want the display turning on, since I rarely want to read the message right away.
