Sense 2 Resting heart rate too high

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This has been reported before, but nothing has been done, so I'm reporting it again.

The resting heart rate on the Fitbit app is higher than other apps, using exactly the same data. For example, my current resting heart rate as calculated by Fitbit is 54, but putting the exact same data into apps like Google Fit returns a resting heart rate of 47.

It's not the other apps that are all out of whack. Fitbit is the outlier here.

Fix this.

Just to add to this, while Google fit detected an increase to my resting heart rate from 47 to 48, Fitbit kept reporting 54.

Then, when Google fit reported a reduction back to 47, Fitbit reported an increase to 55.

@Mcav75   Your Fitbit and Google Fit apps are using the same raw data, but each is using their own proprietary algorithm to calculate your resting heart rate.  The same is true for the other apps you use.

I'm not a Fitbit employee, but as a long time user, I believe that Fitbit doesn't think there is anything to fix.

LZeeW, I know this, as I've stated twice now. The consistent outlier is Fitbit where, regardless of what you believe Fitbit thinks or doesn't think, does require fixing.

You may not be a Fitbit employee, but you're clearly repping for them. A bit of a concern if you're not being paid to do so.

@Mcav75   It's very important to have an understanding of how different apps determine resting heart rate.  All algorithms are proprietary.  This Help article broadly explains Fitbit's methodology.  It's very important to know other methodology.  Garmin uses your lowest 30 minute average in a 24 hour period.  My background is physiology and I can say for certain that Garmin's methodology is patently absurd.  Can you share a description of Google Fit's methodology?  Or other app methodology?  If so, I can describe its pros and cons.

And yes, I'm advocating for Fitbit.  Hover your cursor over the icon below my screen name.  A Diamond Product is Google's highest Product Expert status.
