I'm new to the Fitbit Community boards but have used Fitbits for several years. I recently purchased a Sense 2 and received the 194.86 update which was to include Dynamic GPS (which I loved on the Charge 5). Is this feature on by default? I was on a walk today and the GPS icon kept going from solid to not solid throughout the walk (I had my phone in my back pocket with bluetooth connected - has been syncing all day with no issue); I didn't receive a notification on my phone (Android Pixel 😎 that my phone was being used for GPS (like I would see on the Charge). My battery dropped 10% in 1.5 hours which leads me to believe the built-in GPS was being used instead of my phone.
Is there a way to confirm if the device is using the phone or the built-in GPS?
By the way, I saw the huge post about this upgrade but I couldn't reply (must be locked); apologies for any duplication this causes. Thanks 🙂

I'm not sure if you can know. But you may want to make sure your fitbit app on your phone has permissions to access your GPS.
For details, you may refer to How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device? - Fitbit Help Center (google.com)

Thanks for replying; maybe it's on by default, but would like to know for sure. I'll keep an eye on my battery during walks to see if I can tell.

You have to grant GPS access permission to the app. I remember when I ran the old firmware where there was no Dynamic GPS. Connecting to GPS takes a bit of time, and the GPS indicator would go on and off in the middle of exercise (that's when I thought a watch with self contained GPS is not as good as if connected to the phone's GPS. Although my old Blaze, when using Connected GPS, was never that accurate).

I did have the permissions set correctly; not sure what was up. I ended up returning it and it wasn't behaving as it should. I got a Charge 6 instead (loved my Charge 5) and so far so good.
