Sense 2 counting many steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Every day, my watch shows several thousand steps taken around noon even though I'm sitting at my desk and not moving.  These steps are denoted on my computer in green lines.  Any ideas as to what might be causing this and how to fix ?

Moderator edit: clarified subject.

Hi @redroc.

You mention it happens whilst sitting at your desk. Do you happen to be typing at the time? These movements and vibrations can unfortunately be mistaken for steps.

No ----  I could be doing anything like reading the paper or taking a nap or sitting at my desk.  I know that doing active things with my hands (such as working out) will calculate steps but we're talking about THOUSANDS OF STEPS while doing nothing.

Welcome to the community forums @redroc.

Thank you for taking the time to share this experience with us. I'm sorry to know the inconvenience.

Do you have Phone on the Fitbit app installed?  This feature allows you to record basic stats such as steps using your phone's sensors. That being said, if there was a fan or something vibrating nearby, that might be the reason why you receive an incorrect amount of steps.

Assuming this is correct, I'd recommend removing it by doing the following:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap Devices (upper left corner).
  2. Tap Phone:
For iOS devices, scroll down and tap the option to remove the device.
    For Android devices,
tap the trash icon at the upper right corner.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove it from your account.
  4. Continue using your Sense and let me know how it goes.

Thanks for helping @N8teGee
