Sense 2 keeps losing GPS

Hi
Can anyone help.
The main reason I buy Fitbit smartwatches rather than trackers is the built in GPS feature. I replaced my trusty Versa with a Sense 2 recently and 2nd hike in succession the GPS kept failing to connect, vibrating as it did and then failed completely. My Versa never had this problem. I'm at the stage where I'm ready to send it back for a refund and buy an Appple Watch! Before I do please can anyone help. I've been a loyal Fitbit since 2015.
The app is up to date, and it was fully charged.

Hi @anncjones. Welcome back to the community.

Thank you for providing the information with me regarding this difficulty experienced with Sense 2. Sorry to know about it.

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time. With that being said, please make sure of the following:

  • That you are  in open sky and moderate trees
  • Adjust how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS
  • Make sure the Location in your phone settings is set to Always or All the time for the Fitbit app (if you're using connected GPS)

If you continue to experience the same behavior and your GPS is getting disconnected, make sure to try following the steps listed in this article to complete a restart, as this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar.

Hi ManuFitbit

Thank you for the reply. Both hikes were in open sky situations, and I've checked the app is set to always, however this shouldn't be an issue with connected GPS. What do you mean by “adjust how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS”. I've been using Fitbit smartwatches for 9 years now and this is the first time I've had this issue so I am feeling it is the Sense 2
