Sense 2 not auto detecting swimming

My Sense2 auto detects walking perfectly. But I do an hour if breaststroke swimming regularly and it identifies that as elliptical. To stop that I disabled all auto detect exercises except walking and swimming.
Now when I swim it doesn’t detect any exercise at all. Walk still auto detects fine.
I’ve followed dozens of suggestions for fixes but none work. I’ve done endless restarts, firmware/app are up to date, disconnect Bluetooth, reinstall app…. Fed up of it to be honest.
Walk auto detect works fine, swim auto detect still not working. Checked settings many times.
All I can think is to manually start the swimming exercise, or let it carry on thinking I’m doing elliptical… but that’s not why I spent all this money on this watch.
Anyone had the same issue and fixed it? Thanks.

Hi, @127.0.0.1 Welcome to the community forums!

Thanks for letting me know about this situation in regards to the auto detection of swimming in your Sense 2.

I appreciate your efforts following several steps for the auto detection to work, my best recommendation would be to manually start the swimming activity in the Exercise app, you can check more information about it here.

Also, double check if you're wearing your device correctly, since this may impact the auto tracking.

Hi yes I’m wearing the device correctly. I agree my only way forward is to manually choose swimming. But am I the only one with this issue when doing breast stroke? Will there be a fix? Thank you.

Hi Jogger - I have a new Fitbit Sense 2 and it is not auto tracking my swimming at all, not even erroneously as yours is tracking swimming as elliptical.  Auto tracking is working fine for me when I bike and walk but no tracking at all for swimming.  My previous Fitbit was the Inspire and it auto tracked swimming just fine.  Not sure what to do either.  Very disappointed.

I suspect it is a bug and until Fitbit themselves experience the issue they’ll just assume it’s user error. That’s how big companies work.
For now every time I swim I manually tell the watch I’m swimming then cancel at the end. Not the end of the world… but not what I paid for either. Very disappointed tbh.
And I’m not happy with support replying above to just log swimming manually, I’d rather they raise a bug report or something. Either my hardware or their software is at fault here.
