Sense 2 not getting desired stats

Hi all - just bought a Sense 2 to help me track training stats. I'm getting back into mt. biking and am trying to improve cardo fitness and strength. My warm up at the gym is 12 mins on a stair master (~23 floors) keeping my HR around 120. I then do strength training (circuit) and conclude with 20 mins on a stationary bike - level 6 at 80rpm keeping my HR at 130. My Sense 2 doesn't count the stair master for steps or floors, and the bike doesn't register anything useful. Both contribute to 'Active Zone' which doesn't tell me anything. Am I using the watch incorrectly or will it simply not capture stats for the stair master and stationary bike?

Thanks in advance!! Steve

Stairmaster - Floors are measured by change in elevation, 10 ft per flight of stairs, so won't get credit for floors climbed when not really changing elevation as measured by altimeter measuring change in atmospheric pressure.  As for steps, they are measured indirectly by swinging of arms as in walking or running.  On stairmaster, hands are usually held steady on rails so few if any steps measured.

Stationary bike - What you would get from a bike outside would be distance and speed measured by GPS which of course you won't get on stationary bike.

But as far as fitness, heart rate is really the key, and determines your Zone Minutes, and after you have been using a little longer, your Cardio Load.

I would suggest that you use the Exercise App on the Sense 2 to track your workout, using "Workout". Swipe right from clock face to get to Exercise App, select Workout, and Start, then End at end of whole workout.  Then you will be able to get summary of whole workout on phone app.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thank you so much - very helpful and I’ll use the exercise function to track the workouts. Going riding on the trails today so excited to see what the watch captures. I’ll be sure to select cycling before I start. Thanks

Update: I did what you said and swiped right - I selected ‘All’ as the exercise and it gave me a menu of ‘Other Exercises’ - quite a list, and spinning and stair master are in there. I’ll play with this at the gym.

The stats from the mt. bike ride today are awesome - great info which is useful for tracking training advances.

Thanks again!
