Sense 2 taking 15 minutes to pickup exercise Heart Rate

I have read the article about the Sense 2 dropping HRs during exercise; I have that issue too.  However, consistently-- when I am on the elliptical-- it takes 15 minutes before my Sense 2 will pickup my HR.  Of course, this is frustrating because I am trying to hit a target HR and maintain that.  It usually kicks in between 12 and 15 minutes.  Any advice?

Today I did 70 min workout and sense 2 thought I had 8 active mins while completely drenched in sweat.
