Sense 2 vibrates but the incoming notification does not appear

I’ve been reading the posts and this seems like a known problem, but I don’t know if this issue is different…

According to the Sense 2 manual, “An incoming notification causes your device to vibrate gently. If you don’t read it in time, it will hide itself.”

Yes my Sense 2 vibrates but the incoming notification does not appear.  Will this be fixed in an update or is this how it is?

From the Android Authority Review:

"However, the new Fitbit OS changes how notifications land. When I received texts through Google Messages, for example, the alert first shows some basic details of the notification. Then, it fades away to reveal another notification that has the exact same information as well as the message itself. You can see this in the gallery above.

During my time using the Sense 2, I found myself getting a notification vibration on the watch, lifting my wrist to see it, and then simply holding there like an idiot waiting for the second half of the notification to show. This setup is not user-friendly at all. I can only hope that Fitbit removes this in a future update for the new Fitbit OS."

I experience the same you get the vibration but it doesn't wake up the screen you have to move the hand or press the button tap the screen to make it visible. Have you tried the always on and see if after the vibrate the notification appears? Let me know if that works.

Hi @IslaReina - also noticed incoming messages don't wake the screen.

This is the way it is in this new navigation system. You also have to swipe up to see them, instead of down, and they are slow to load.

It seems that many things are the opposite of what is needed.

It also may not vibrate for a new message if the previous one hasn't been cleared off the screen including even when the screen is blank.

Looks like the pre-order and new users are doing the testing of all the faults with the Sense 2 and Versa 4 and discovering many things that have been removed from the prior models.

I completely concur with the Android Authority reviewer. I find myself getting a vibration notification, lifting/moving my wrist to see it, and waiting there, staring at a blank watch screen.  I press the button and the watch tells me from whom the message came, then I have to tap on the screen to read the message.  I haven’t tried the Always On because even if it works, it’s not the setting I want.

I get a vibration notification even if I haven’t cleared previous messages. I’m not asking for “see if this works” suggestions. What I am experiencing goes contrary to what is in the manual.  I thought perhaps there was a setting I was missing to show the message rather than hide it immediately.

Thanks for your input. I don’t think this is the new navigation system only because the manual says otherwise.  I don’t mind having to swipe up, there are a lot of different swipes to which I can become accustomed. I was wondering if maybe I skipped a setting or something, but maybe it’ll come in an update or the Sense 3 in September 2024.

Just got the Sense 2 and this is my number 1 gripe. Why on earth would they make us interact with the device to see a notification, isn't being able to quickly look at the watch face and see the message the whole point? If I had known this I honestly would have thought twice about ordering.

Have you heard of any fixes for this?
