New Fitbit sense 2 eventually connected to phone but watch gets language selection, then sticks on information screen. Rebooted/uninstalled and reinstalled app/pressed watch button until Red Cross 3 times etc with no luck. On phone shows up on Fitbit screen but locks up.

I'm sorry to hear that your Sense 2 gets stuck and is not properly working. Allow me to help you regarding this matter.
I suggest that you restart your device one more time: Press and hold the button for 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on the screen, and then release the button.
It's important to note that logo should appear. The red cross is not an expected behavior. Then, try to set it up as a new device as you did it the first time you got it. I appreciate your time in this process.
If you continue to see a red cross instead, i suggest that you contact our tech service for further investigation. They count with better resources to assist you at this point.
