Sense2 watch face keeps changing

I have a relatively new Sense2 (approximately 1 month old). I completed a firmware update yesterday and now my watch face keeps changing back to a solid black with numbers I do not have the always on display selected. If I shut it down and restart, my regular watch face comes back for a few hours and then changes back to black. This is getting quite annoying. 
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

It sounds like you have already checked this, but on the Sense 2, it is particularly easy to accidentally turn on always-on display in the quick settings with just an accidental down swipe from the clock face to get to quick settings.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I did check this and the always on setting is not checked. The display is also not “on” when this happens. There’s plenty of charge in the battery too.  Knock on wood, I managed to get through yesterday without having to restart the thing so maybe the glitch has fixed itself.
