Steps added while not wearing

Put on my Fitbit before using treadmill, and removed it when I was done. Showed 4800 steps, 2.6 miles for the exercise, which accurately reflected what the treadmill monitor showed. But it shows I’ve done 9800 steps and 5 miles for the day. Where did those extra 5000 steps come from when I only wore it on treadmill?

Hello @Chico2018, nice to see you around the community!

I'm happy to see how great you are doing with your daily activity! Getting close to those 5K steps is an amazing achievement.

It is quite common to see your metrics (specifically steps and distance) double if you have your phone set up as a tracking device in the app. This option allows you to use your phone as a step counter in case you aren't wearing your Fitbit. To avoid this, please make sure to remove your phone as a tracker

Not sure if this is issue, as I did not walk anywhere with my phone that day.
