I've been wearing a Fitbit Sense 2 for years and this has never happened before. I'm suddenly not getting a sleep score and I'm not getting Breathing Rate or Heart Rate Variability readings. What is wrong?

Hi @taz4352, thanks for stopping by, I hope you're doing well.
Let me help you with your breathing rate, heart rate variability and sleep score stats that your device has stopped showing.
All these stats need heart rate reading in the analysis. Check if the heart rate sensor is on:
- On your Sense 2, open the Settings app .
- Tap Heart Rate to turn the setting on.
If it is on, turn it off, then back on. Sometimes this procedure fixes this kind of issues.
If your heart rate is properly being read, attempt to restart your device if your haven't done so:
- Press and hold the button for 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on the screen, and then release the button.

@DavidFitbit Thanks for your response. My heart rate shows up all the time on my watch face so I don't think that's the problem but I tried to do what you said and there are things I can't find. If I open settings on the Fitbit itself, there is no Heart Rate setting to be set (at least not one I can find). If I open the settings in the app on my iPhone, the only settings I have are notifications if my heart rate rises above or falls below heart rate thresholds. I don't see anywhere a specific Heart Rate setting that can be turned on or off. I'm not sure what you're referring to. I had already reset my device several days ago but it's been a week now that I'm not getting a Breathing Rate or a Heart Rate Variability reading.

I've had the same problem since April.
1. Stress management: no score 17 times in the last 19 days.
2. Breathing rate: no score 18 of the last 19 days.
3. HRV: no score 6 of the last 18 days and ranging between 0 and 63 on days that I got a score. Fitbit claimed the other day that my normal range was something like -8 to 83. Pretty sure that you can't get a negative hrv. My normal hrv is in the high 30's tolow 40's.
4. Sleep score: no score 16 of the last 18 days.
5. Daily readiness score: no score 5 of the last 11 days. In addition, my RHR is 40 to 41 BPM. Daily readiness will often tell me that I'm one beat lower than usual at 41 bpm and one beat higher than usual at 40 bpm.

Hi @taz4352, thank you for the clarification.
I understand that you see your heart rate during the day. I happens that these heart rate data are mesured during the your sleep. This being said, i would recommend that you follow the tips suggesed in our help article How do I track heart rate with my Fitbit device? > How to improve the accuracy of a heart rate reading.
The idea is to ensure your heart rate is properly being read during the night as well.
Regarding the settings on your device, i just confirmed that heart rate settings are not included in the Sense 2. I apologize for the misunderstanding.

@mdlmcgill Same for me. I've been wearing a Sense 2 for years and in all that time this has never happened before. It's really disturbing and I'm left wondering why this is happening out of nowhere. I'm also not expecting that anyone will look into it as that has been my experience in the past.

Yup. I'm about done with these guys. There are too many good alternatives out there to continue to use a massively substandard product.
I can deal with data that is inaccurate but consistent. At least I can watch my trends.
What I get from Fitbit now is inaccurate, inconsistent, often missing entirely, and is absolutely useless information. And it's too bad. I've been a Fitbit customer for seven years or so and they used to have a decent product. Not anymore.

Hi @mdlmcgill,
I’m sort of leaning the same way and it really is a shame. I’ve used Fitbits of one type or another for at least 20+ years and it used to be a great product. It causes me so much stress to get these inconsistent and/or missing stats all of a sudden out of nowhere.
I’m just not sure which way to go. I’ll have to do some research I guess. Such a disappointment. Thanks for commiserating.
