When are the promised Sense 2 features coming?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

When I purchased my sense 2 on preorder I foolishly assumed that the features listed as “coming soon” ( Google maps, wallet and on wrist calling) actually meant coming soon in other words in a few weeks. Today I have read on a product review that early released models won’t have these features added at all! Is this true? I’m already peeved that I’ve a pointless 6 month premium subscription and have got to wait (what I thought was a matter of a few weeks) for updates but NEVER????

I was waiting for news but now I’m outside of the 30 day window to return my watch (bought from Argos) and I am totally peeved

Can someone tell me when are the promised features coming? Are they imminent or have we been sold a product with false advertising?

Noooo where did you read this? I'm about to send mine back because it's been more frustration than it's worth.

I've been using Fitbit devices for a long time myself so I'm very curious about this:"Today I have read on a product review that early released models won’t have these features added at all! Is this true?".

What features didn't released while promised on earlier devices? I do recognize it can take a while before Fitbit releases an update and they are very late communicating release dates (mostly on the release date itself 😊).

I know this introduction of the Fitbit Sense 2 does have many flaws, but please let us stay with the facts as much as possible.

So if you can be more specific please share.

@Carmen1212 any link? That sounds more like those features would not come to earlier (previous) devices like Sense or Versa 3 which I guess users already assumed anyway.

I think there was some misunderstanding there somewhere, the features listed as "coming soon" are definitely still listed as coming. While it's certainly annoying that there's no dates announced whatsoever, it's definitely not cancelled as far as I know.

You sure they weren't talking about third-party app support or something else?

@RonaldM Sorry I’ve spent ages going through my browser history as I’ve been reading lots of articles about the Sense 2 and I can’t find the article - I should’ve copied it but I do remember the text. It said: “earlier releases will not have this upgrade”. I guess on reflection this may mean earlier released devices or models but the article was about the Sense 2.

Either way I’d like to know what to expect and some kind of ball park estimate of when.

@Carmen1212 what you said suggests earlier released models like Sense or Versa 3 etc. (and some things have been confirmed by Fitbit like that the new exercise modes won't be ported to previous models).

With Fitbit you never know what to expect and when. They lack transparency and any communication skills. And even when they release something users often have to find out what had changed on their own. Wish in that matter Fitbit was as transparent as other companies. Within 2 months, I received 3 updates (this include beta FW as I signed up for early releases, too) packed with features for my Fenix 7 and don't need to guess what has changed because there is a full change log that can be opened on the watch. This is something that Fitbit misses so "coming soon" may mean weeks (like dynamic GPS for Charge 4) or years (like SpO2 for Ionic, my Ionic was long retired before feature arrived 😂).

I spoke with Fitbit support this morning about this "coming soon" issue. I am considering purchasing the Sense 2 (altho know I am rethinking it). I was told that although there was no info at this time regarding the release date for the "coming soon" features for the Sense 2, he reassured me that each Sense 2 owner would be notified of the updates and those features would be available to them.

@Diane0411 in other words they told you "you'll get them when they're ready". A way of saying something and not saying anything at the same time 🤣

It's ridiculous the only reason I upgraded was because of the promised features especially on wrist calls.. I'm seriously considering of returning mine regardless that I'm out of 30 days. As it is it's no use to me

To ALL those here who are having anxiety attacks and tossing the idea around of returning the Sense 2 DO IT before it is too late. There are no health tracking benefits of the Sense 2 over the Sense 1 because cEDA is an annoying gimmick.

Returned my Sense to and got the SUPERIOR Sense 1. Now I have wrist calling, notifications that work and only require my eyes to move rather then wrist or button pressing plus apps galore.

Google has lived up to what many already know that they can't be trusted, they have cancelled 274 services or products to this day. Ask any Stadia user what they think about Google.

I think this should also serve as a lesson to people not to buy on a promise, but for what the device actually is today in its current state. I learned my lesson with the Ionic.

There is nothing coming. If there was they wouldn't be discounting the Sense $100 weeks after release.

Maybe there is just a much bigger issue like they have no way to have the features supported with the memory available on the watch or the way they are implemented, they draw so much energy that the battery life becomes a real issue.

It seems very fishy that these features are still not out, as this is so simple to do. They even have the code to do it already from previous watches.

Fitbit (pre-Google) has a history of releasing firmware updates right before Christmas that typically include any promised functionality that isn't waiting on regulatory approval. You know how it works -- they have to get the new devices out the door in September/October so they can discount them in November/December for the holiday season. So the features that aren't done in time get tagged with "coming soon."

@bkushner Actually it could also possible that they have to empty the shelves of all returned devices hence the decision to drop already the price. Because honestly speaking the original price is incredibly high for a tracker (because this is definitely not a smartwatch)

I received an email today (11/12/2022) saying the google map features are still coming, so I'm going to assume that they are.  When, who knows, but I don't think they are canceling that feature since they just told me about it.

Well obviously the lower price is to clear their shelves. What I'm saying is if they were going to do an update to stem the tide of returns then they wouldn't be knocking $100 off  this soon.

@Patrick421 I think it's also worth adding the Garmin Venu 2 Plus to the list too, and perhaps the newly announced Polar Ignite 3.
