Sense won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

I have just spent an hour trying to get my Sense reconnected to Bluetooth. I restarted both my watch and my phone, which usually works. This time it didn't. 

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app. No joy. I again restarted the phone and the watch. Didn't reconnect. I went fishing around the Fitbit app looking for some setting that maybe had got changed. Didn't find anything. But finally it reconnected, and I have no idea why.

This is happening nearly every day and each time I lose hours of messages. It's totally unacceptable.

In 2022, I had the same problem, which was resolved with a firmware update:

I think the problem has returned following a new firmware update. 

I'm beginning to wonder if Google wants me to throw away my Sense and buy a Pixel watch.
