I cannot get to filing a support ticket for a defective band. While I was wearing it today, the band just broke via it's brittle plastic. I do not understand why they have plastic loops and such as previous phones had stronger loops. How do I get it replaced with the site saying I cannot file a ticket, right now.

The only way to get a replacement band (or a refund) is to go contact Support (via the link at the bottom of the page). I've had the best luck with the Live Chat option, but there's a variety of different options available to contact them.
For future reference, you might want to consider getting a band from eBay or Amazon. I've done that several times and only had 2 break (one was right at the latch to attach the Fitbit, the other was just a broken loop to hold the excess band in place).
