Can't tap and pay with Sense

For the last few weeks the watch tap and pay method has not worked. Using my phone I have been able to use ApplePay as a substitute. As far as I can tell I've swapped across from Fitbit to Google as per their prompts. Is there something wrong with Google Pay? I'm in Australia btw.
