Dead Watch

I noticed my fit bit watch wasn't syncing with my phone and tried to update the app etc which didn't work. Then I found watch had a blank screen and it wouldn't work.  I thought maybe I had forgotten to charge it up although I was pretty sure I had.  So, I plugged it in and went back a couple of hours later to find it still a dead screen and when I picked it up it was red hot, dangerously so and still not working.  It is only 18 months old surely this can't be right.  Any advice or comments please.  Thanks Marie

Hi @tynegirl - your watch seems to be a Sense so it's moved to that forum.

This generally is a symptom of water having got in. In any case do not charge again, it is dangerous.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.  Considering that I have studiously put on the water lock whenever I go swimming using the watch I don't see how it can have got into it. Would it be worth my while to contact Fitbit Customer Services?  The watch is only 18 months only and I think it's dreadful that this has happened.

Best wishes

Marie

Thanks @tynegirl - some watches don't have robust seals which can deteriorate over time irrespective of water lock.

Unfortunately once it gets hot it is no longer usable.

Thank you,

I don't think my reply to that is printable.  It's disgusting.  I have looked up various evaluations about these watches and mine is by far not the only one.  There seems to be several problems which cannot be resolved resulting in a lot of money being wasted.

In the bin it goes then as it is obviously not repairable and I certainly won't be replacing it with another one.

Thank you for responding.

Marie
