@Sonya2021 Ink should not impact the connection. It may impact HR reading tho (optical sensor).

When on the dark ink it won’t read anything but on a small patch that has faded yellow it reads everything even my sleep so I tested solid black again and nope it didn’t work then back to faded spot it’s great. It’s being worn on the same spot just different arms . And just did a google and it seems to be a problem with the dark ink 😞

Hi guy I have had trouble since getting this on Xmas day ,I have managed to get it to work on the only faded bit of my arm if I swap it to the other arm the ink is not faded and it’s black and not much skin showing so believe it to be tattoo ,googled it and it does seem to be a problem with dark tattoos

Yes absolutely. It was driving me mad not tracking sleep, HR or O2. It wouldn't play messages and doesn't connect to Spotify... Its basically useless. I have 2 full sleeves so wearing it on the other wrist isn't an option but it works for my non tattooed partner.

My charge 2 never had this issue.

I have both arms it wasn’t till I found one spot that’s faded now it’s all go ,I think the older style had no problem with tattoos as they worked fine . I think Fitbit needs to come up with a way that will work on both tattoos and non tattoos

@Sonya2021 it's matter of sensor I would hazard a guess.

Have you found a tracker that works. ? I have an old fitbit blaze that has no issues reading my sleep. Upgraded to versa 2 few years ago and wouldn't track sleep over my tattoos so i returned it. Still wearing my old Blaze but dying for a newer model with more.

Hi, @Missy8050, welcome, It's my understanding that the inked skin layer compromises the LED/sensor array function. Your device measures the change in colour of the layer that is inked. There were quite a few enquiries a year or ago on this issue (try looking on the "search bar") at a time when I think the LED/sensor hardware was updated. Your best chance is to place the device over a non inked area.

Cheers
