No, no Fitbit device has fall detection feature
I believe there is a feature request for this however, so if you are interested find the feature request and vote for it. Hopefully Fitbit pays attention to the competition outside of just feature requests and is working on this feature, all major competitors offer fall detection and emergency notification of contacts
This is a 100% fitness tracker and it's quite disappointing that they don't have fall detection. There are literally thousands of people hiking, running, climbing mountains, cycling, trekking. It can happen at any time where somebody can fall down.
On a iPhone can a 3rd party device ring from the phone?
a Fitbit can’t send a sms as iPhone blocks 3rd parties from using iMessage.
so if it can’t send a fall alert to a phone, it’s a bit pointless
I was hoping for something even as simple as alerting a FitBit friend that you have fallen and/or are in a bad predicament. I thought for sure this would already exist. I just bought my mom a FitBit, and am disappointed that something this simple and important hasn't been implemented.
Imagine falling down a cliff and you curse the moment you sold this Samsung watch which would reveal your location to your selected contacts.
They find you days later rotten with a fitbit on your wrist.
In general, the incident detection feature would be a nice or real-time beacon. You would need to have your mobile phone with you but I don't think it's a problem for somebody who worries about your one's safety (can't imaging going out without a phone in such a case). Fitbit has a lot to catch up with this feature. With my current watch, I usually keep a beacon turned on (my wife can see my location at any time) during my longer or more remote activities and I use incident detection only when cycling (roads aren't the safest place for cyclists). I don't use it during rock climbing, though - generates false alarms on falls and I never do it alone anyway 🙂 Is it useful? I'm so far lucky not to find out but it always feels safer.
It may be worth to vote for the feature suggestion: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Fallen-Detection-amp-Notification-App/idi-p/3566...
@t.parker are you serious. There are posts from the year 2016 that ask for that specific feature. 🤣🤣🤣.
What makes you think they're going to implement it 4 years later and a few months before they complete the merge with google ? Then it's over, they don't have to do anything. Appart from enjoying the money you paid for the watch on expensive hotels.
@SunsetRunner there's nothing else to advise. To be clear, I don't think they will implement this and many other features. But it's either this or going for a different brand that already supports it.

this added / variable cost app can do fall alerts, but if you buy the apple watch with fall detection already, you’re probably ahead of the game. apple watch cost difference is paid off in ~ one year of this app cost. if you can find a refurbished iwatch, all to the better.
i have an hr, and i’m upgrading to the iwatch after the newest version comes out.
