So I misplaced my phone tonight. Close proximity. No worries! I have a Sense that will help me find it!
nope… I didn’t have the FitBit app open on my phone. Nada…
Need I say anymore? It’s basically a useless feature if it only works when the app is open. Someone should do some analysis and work that out.

@Clossman - it seems your phone setup is not correct.
You don't need the Fitbit app open for find my phone to work.
What you need to ensure is that it is running in background. And Bluetooth must also be active on the phone.
You can try the SimpleCheckUp app from the gallery to monitor how well your watch is syncing / connecting and test find my phone.
Once you have the phone working well it should work fine.
Sometimes phones have Bluetooth issues which requires restarting them to resolve.
