FitBit Sense Died After Pool Activity

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I participated in a Aqua Zumba class today in about 4 feet of water for 30 minutes. After I got out I realized that my FitBit was off. I attempted to charge it but it would not charge. I am unable to turn it on.

It is as though being in the pool killed it but I have had my Fitbit in the pool before.

Hi @jacmead11 - if you look in the forum you will find cases of the screen coming off completely, so it's possible the seal round the face is not reliable and water may have got in it. It can't be repaired.

If your watch is still under warranty take it back to where you bought it for a replacement new one.

Or you can contact Fitbit Support directly. They may be able to replace it with a refurbished one.

Also reachable via the Fitbit App, click profile photo, Help & Support, Contact Customer Support.

If you want to confirm it's faulty you can still talk with support.

Hi, @jacmead11 welcome to the community, compromised water resistance would be unusual, I swim daily for 90 minutes with my "Sense". I suggest you check out that your "Sense" is charged. Wash your "Sense" with warm soapy water making sure the charge pin pits are clean (I use a cotton bud) ensure it is dry before putting it on charge Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?  offers guidance and advice. If your "Sense" has in fact fully discharged its battery it may need to be on charge for up to 30 minutes before it responds.

Let us know how you get on.

Actually I agree with @Guy_ here, it's quite likely that the seal was compromised. If you look back in the history of Fitbit (namely the Ionic/Versa) you will find that this was quite a common issue.

Unfortunately devices like this aren't waterproof, but actually only water resistant. There is quite a difference between the two terms.

@Gr4ndp4 You must be extremely fortunate swimming 90 minutes a day no issues. There are plenty of threads complaining about the face falling off here. And most say they're on their own if past warranty. Only offered a discount.

@Guy_ What retail  store is going to give you a warranty replacement? AFAIK once your past your return period, you have to go through Fitbits warranty. Of course it wouldn't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't expect it.

I can't continue with the Fitbit garbage they offer.  I have now been through two watches and both have died just after warranty.  I plan to go with Samsung after this last break down!  Thanks!

I wore my FitBit several times in the pool with no issues. However, this last Sunday it died in the pool. Wasn't doing too much swimming and was just  following my five year in the pool. The watch was still under warranty. I called FitBit and they quickly offered to replace the watch and it's on the way. The customer service was great. I can see how the seals on the watch could be compromised by accidental, repeated banging against walls or falling on the ground (which I have done).  Overall, I still think it's a great watch after trying several other brands.

As long as the watch is under the 12 month warranty, you are fine. However, after that you are screwed! I’ve had two Fitbit's (Versa & Sense) and both crapped out 13 months and 18 months. It's not worth spending high dollar for such an unreliable watch. I've gone elsewhere for a less expensive, more dependable watch with comparable features. Best of luck!

My Sense died today, after I wore it for the first time in the pool, for about 5 minutes, after having it for just over a year. It was a gift, but I'd never buy a Fitbit after this.
