Fitbit Sense not receiving texts or calls notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

It appears about a week ago I stopped getting phone calls and texts on my wrist.  No setting changes were made to the app or my watch.  This was a key reason I upgraded from the versa to the sense was for the phone calls and wallet.  What to check next?

It seems you had your watch setup correctly for notifications. There may have been some issues.

If there are still some problems with notifications,

Check that your watch is syncing correctly.

In the phone Fitbit App

Click on profile photo [top left]

Device photo [middle left]

Sync -

See when last synced

Try refresh by touching circle

it should say "a moment ago"

You can also try a restart of the watch

Shut down the watch

[Swipe left, Settings, at the bottom, Shutdown]

wait a minute

Start the watch

[Hold the button till it vibrates or logo appears]

Wait for the clock to reappear.

and if necessary restart the phone

Hope this helps

Hello @DNyberg It's great to see you around! @Guy_ Thanks for the input!

I also want to add that if notifications stopped working, you can troubleshoot the inconvenience by following the troubleshooting steps suggested in this link: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?

Keep me posted.

Thank you for your email. They were working fine until a couple of days
ago. Recently I'm noticing that the sense controls in my Bluetooth is not
always staying connected which I assume is part of the issue. Lately when I
go into the Fitbit app on my phone it is telling me to unpair and re-pair my
sense with the phone. I should not be having these issues with the latest
watch. If the notifications, messages, and phone calls were working they
shouldn't just stop working for no reason.

@DNyberg Thank you for trying the troubleshooting steps!

Can you confirm the model and the version of the operating system of your mobile device? Sometimes compatibility issues may arise. For a list of compatible devices, please check: Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?

In the meantime, please confirm that the Fitbit App is up to date. For an update, please follow the steps here:

How do I use the Fitbit app?

In addition, please restart your mobile device and then restart the Bluetooth. For this, please turn off and then back on the Bluetooth for 10 seconds. Lastly, you can try to remove your Sense from Bluetooth and add it back.

1. On your phone, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
2. Tap the information icon or gear icon next to the name of your Fitbit device.
3. Find the option to forget the device.

4. Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again, then sync your Fitbit device.

I look forward to your reply.

I am struggling hard. I have no troubles with syncing. My sense will auto sync no problem. I had double and triple checked to make sure I had/ have the latest version of software on watch and android system on my phone. I actually just factory reset my watch to see if that would help. I am no longer happy with my purchase. I have been a fitbit wearer since the original fitbit, I switched to a galaxy watch only to realize how much I liked the Fitbit programs more and then decided to purchase a new sense. Since I can't connect my sense controls specifically for calls and texts, it makes my more expensive purchase a waist. And I have followed trouble shooting multiple times.

Hi @VLD2989 - at the moment there is a bug in the Fitbit App.

Btw Sense controls is only enabled when you are in a call or doing firmware update. It is not used for notifications.

Hi. Do you know if there is still an issue with the app? Thanks

Best Answer

I still can’t receive calls or texts and there have been no updates to the App so will assume no.

Is there a fix or an acknowledgement of this issue yet?! I am having the same problem, have tried all troubleshooting, and suggestions in all the threads from other people have the same issue. There needs to be a FIX for the ANDROID update that has caused this issue!!!!!!!!! Waste of money if I can't get any notificatons.

I haven't seen any updates so I kept looking online for a fix. Someone said to uninstall the fitbit app and reinstall which I hadn't tried. It worked!

I fixed it!!!! So, I tried a lot of things and honestly I'm not sure which worked persay, but it's working again!!! I'm getting my notifications on my fitbit sense again.  Here's basically evening I tried and I think this is the order I tried it.

Turned off watch

Turned off phone at the same time

Turned both back on at the same time

Checked the app permissions within my phone settings

Checked settings within fitbit app and watch settings

Factory reset watch

Unpaired and repaired my watch within my samsung phone settings

Uninstalled and reinstalled the fitbit app

Removed the fitbit device and repaired it onto my fitbit account

I believe that's everything. Good luck everyone!!!

Hi @Jessica-T  - thanks for posting, you have the patience of a saint! What a way to spend an evening because it can easily go wrong and if your watch is no longer under warranty your watch could become useless.

The big question is why is that even necessary just because there is a new version of the Fitbit App.

Maybe Fitbit should employ you.
