Fitbit Service and History - Repair and Replacement

Hi all!

I have been a long time user and fan of Fitbit products, owning the Scale, and gone through few watch products and have to also note that I have been a fan of their customer service. To say that I have used their product since the Fitbit Surge back in 2015, as a gift. To say I enjoyed the used of the Surge and has lasted me a long time. Even after 6 months to close to a year the strap was damaged and I was provided with a full replacement of the product which is was kept me going with the quality of service. At the time there was no way to fix and swap out the watch strap so that was their solution.

I have continued to use the watch until 2018 where it later was having issues with charging and eventually was not able to do so anymore. In which i was then given the Fitbit Ionic as a gift during Christmas that year to replace the Surge. I got alot of use out of these two products and they have seen alot of use whether it was in the gym or outdoor activities, even on swims in some occasions and ofcourse have seen alot of scuffs and scratches but never any full damage.

Then earlier this year when they made the recall for the Fitbit Ionic which to my surprise was apparently an issue, after owning it for so many years never had an issue until more recently with charging and being able to make proper contact with the charging port. And due to the recall has prompted me to get the Fitbit Surge earlier this year in July. Design wise albeit much small to say was definitely not the say as the previous two watches but with the price tag i was expecting the same amount of use as I did with previous watches.

But later after owning the watch for two months after accidentally dropping the watch from the counter can say the watch has unfortunately already met its end of use with the screen cracking and engulfing the corner of the screen. Mind you still usable but to find there was no option to fix or replace the watch, the only option I was given is to purchase a new watch after having a lifespan of two months is to say fairly frustrating.

I've been waiting for the refund from the recall of the Ionic, sadly after already being the 2 months still yet to receive it which is understanding considering current circumstances. Sad to hear that to hear there was no repair service for the product which you would think that it's purpose would provide with much greater durability for the price as it's more durable and resilient predecessors had.

I maybe purchasing the new Sense2 soon if I run out of options since I love the use of the product and feel I could get more use of it. Just writing this as it seems like this seems to be a constant problem with more recent releases and the screen seems to break more often than not and there are no options to help fix or replace them which I think with how much Fitbit has grown is disappointing to hear that people are dropping out of purchasing the products. I'm sure it goes through testing before release but it doesn't seem to match what use to be available, otherwise I would just purchase the Ionic again.

Cheers,

Kris
