Fitbit app reduced steps and distance recorded

Yesterday I did 

Steps 16037 miles 6.71 and calories 2878

Today when I opened the fitbit app to move data to my spreadsheet it was changed to 

Steps 15940 miles 6.67 and calories 2859.

I have 1 device and 1 fitbit app.  This has been happening all month.  I've rebooted the sense and my phone multiple times.  

Any ideas why this is happening?  I'm in a year long mileage competition and getting wicked annoyed.  Thank you.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and sharing the steps that you've tried on your own. To work on this together, I'd suggest reconnecting your Sense to the Fitbit app to ensure your data syncs correctly. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Forget your Sense from the Bluetooth settings
2. Check if the Fitbit app is updated
3. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone
4. Open the Fitbit app, tap Devices at the upper left corner > Add More Devices
5. Select your Sense, tap Replace Device and follow the on-screen instructions

Once this is done, use your watch as you usually do and monitor its behavior in the next few days.
