Fitbit doesn't vibrate when phone is on silent

I'm trying to find out how to have my fitbit alert me of messages (text, calls, and emails) when my phone is on silent.  It used to work and for some reason now, if I silence my phone, my watch won't vibrate anymore. No point in having my phone alerting me if I can have my watch alert me. I used to work, but somehow stopped and I don't know if I changed something by accident. Anyone have any ideas?

I figured out how to have my watch vibrate even though my phone is on silent. In the Fitbit app, under Notifications, I needed to select "Always Vibrate". Now, when my phone is on Silent, my watch will still alert me. I use the watch swap right to Quick Settings to turnoff my watch alerts, at night, for instance.  Now I don't have my phone vibrating and my watch vibrating at the same time.

Swipe left edge to the right to get to Quick Settings on the watch and make sure Do not disturb or Sleep have not been enabled by accident.

@lgriego - the alerts come from your phone to your Sense. How are you silencing your phone?  And which phone do you have?  If you put your phone on Do Not Disturb to stop messages, etc. from showing up on your phone … then there is nothing to send to your Sense. I have an iPhone SE. I resolved the issue by turning the volume down as far as it will go on my phone. This allows my messages, etc. to come through.
