I have a different issue with Google Assistant. It doesn’t appear to be losing connection with my phone (iPhone 12, iOS 16), instead, it always goes to the ‘suggestions’ page, in the first instance.
If I haven’t used GA for a awhile, it comes on when I hold the side button, listens for about half a second, then displays a list of suggestions; ‘Try saying things like: Start a timer…’ I then have to scroll to the bottom of this list to get it to listen to me, or I can press the side button again to start over.
It’s very frustrating, as I primarily use this function while driving or riding my bike, as I don’t have my phone available.
How can I prevent this “suggestions” behaviour, and just get GA to go straight to listening mode and stay there?

Hi @SunsetRunner it seems like you have a microphone issue. Firstly restart the watch and if it persists check the cleaning to make sure the tiny holes on the back aren't blocked, but be careful not to damage it by poking things in the holes.

Thank you for the suggestion Guy. However there are two contraindications to this being a mic problem; it can hear me perfectly well once I scroll down, or restart the process - even with the radio playing in the background in the car. And I regularly use the watch for phone calls and have no issue with callers hearing me, even when not holding the watch to my face “Agent 86” style 🙂
This is likely a software, setting, or just poor programming issue.

@SunsetRunner- thanks, in that case try restarting the watch, and also logout of the app and restart the phone. This will force you to reconnect with GA and it may then resolve it.

Thanks Guy. I’ll do as suggested and get back with a result. May take 24 hrs to fully test that it works as prescribed, reliably, repeatedly 😉

After restarting everything and logging out / in again, it worked properly immediately, then after driving home from work tonight, it went back to “suggestions” - scroll to bottom, tap the little ‘mix’ icon, and away we go…
Frustrating.
Thanks again for your assistance. I’ll have to dig deeper.

Thanks @SunsetRunner , I'd wait till you get 3.82 Fitbit App version which may have a bearing on the problem, that others re experiencing.
We don't know yet if it contains a resolution in this area.
