I have been training more vigorously and when my bpm gets near 180-185 it suddenly drops to 160s. I believe the boys are getting into the 190s but it's not reading correctly.

Do you know your MAX HR? And by "Know" i do not mean (220-age) "formula"? What do you mean with "Suddenly"?You are not able to ( and you shouldn't) stay at 90- 100% of MAX HR for more than short intervals.

@Eerriicc8833 easiest is to get chest strap (accuracy) and do all-out run to find out your max.

Agreed with t.parker. Get a chest strap. Optical wrist-based from all fitness trackers, all brands, do not function well at high intensity max workouts. I do HIIT workouts to max HR also. Check device compatibility before purchase.
