How do I make calls on Sense?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I can receive calls, but I’ve tried a few times to make a call with the Google Assistant. But each time I say call so and so from my contacts it says sorry I can’t make calls yet. Anyone know how to fix this or if there’s supposed to be an update coming to add this feature? I have the Fitbit Sense and iPhone 11 Pro Max. TIA.

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, I can receive messages and calls, I can also ask for information or weather to the Google Assistant directly from my Sense.

Everything works except making calls from the watch (i.e. give instruction like « call X »). In such case, Google Assistant returns a message indicating that it cannot yet make calls similar to the issue as described by @NT081456 .

I checked any possible setting and didn’t find anything to resolve this issue yet.

It must be ur country of origin its maybe just not available yet though its strange you can get the other features but not make calls do you keep your phone near you ?

@Tracy7873 indeed strange. And yes I keep my iPhone close to myself.

Should I be the only one with this issue, aside from possible geographic restrictions, the only other reason I think off could be some bug driven by invisible local security restriction on my iPhone (my iPhone is managed by my employer via MobileIron’s Mobile Data Management solution).

Anyways, I am curious to verify whether other users encounter the same issue.

Thanks @Tracy7873  but this is not a helping answer.
There are a lot of actions I can do despite the MobileIron is on. As said before, the Google Assistant works for everything except launching a call. I mentioned MobileIron for the sake of helping debugging, but what would actually help is if someone could back his answer with specific technical background about why it is failing instead of making easy assumptions. At this stage, nothing proves MobileIron is the source. If it was the case, then I would also encounter other limitations.

Yeah, having the same issue myself.

As far as I have been able to determine:

I can only receive an incoming call on the watch itself, and use the watch's microphone to talk while the watch's speaker lets me hear the person on the other end of the call.

I can place a phone call on the watch using Google assistant, however the watch does not act as a microphone or speaker for that outgoing call, instead it goes directly to the phone speaker and phone's microphone.

--However, if I have bluetooth earbuds connected to the phone, I can dial the call with google assistant on the watch, and it goes to the earbuds' mic and speaker without taking the phone out of my pocket. This is only optimal if your already wearing your earbuds. Even then you probably can reach the earbud's button to call it without the watch, so really this is only useful when your phone is connected to a bluetooth speaker with mic that's just out of reach, or if you like the text confirmation that the assistant gives you on the watch screen.

Considering you can receive calls on the watch, and clearly have no problem dialing calls with the device, I find it idiotic that they wont let you use the device for outgoing calls in this manner. I find it especially annoying after my illness has cost me the strength to hold and manipulate many objects, that this device could clearly handle outgoing calls, but has not been programmed to do so.
