Hi everyone my senses comes Friday but I am reading a lot of negative reviews about it.

How do you like it?

Things you don't like?

I know it just came out but I'm just curious. At least Amazon is good with returns.

It's a nice tracker and smart watch. Lots of missing promised features, a new OS that isn't quite as compete as the previous OS, and lots of promises. I sure hope the future release of the missing features lives up to expectations. No way to tell right now and you'll have to make the keep / return decision before they're released.

Despite all that, I like it enough to keep it. The EDA scan and temperature measurements are working. I'm also enjoying six months of free premium.

I've had mine for 3 days now, and honestly, it's not a whole lot different from my versa 2.

However, my Versa 2 heart rate monitor ALWAYS went up to 160 to 170 during workouts (even during a warm up) and I'm on a beta blocker so my heart rate can't get over 140.

The Sense is actually more accurate for me despite all the negative reviews I've read. It didn't go over 150 during my workout, and it was only about 5 bpm off (I was at 145). It also kept up with changes in bpm faster than my Versa 2.

I do like the new OS. However, I was only able to use the voice reply to text once, since then I keep getting a transcription error or oops something went wrong, try again later. I don't use this feature a whole lot (very rarely on my V2) so it's not a big deal for me. Quick replies work just fine.

As for the other features, the skin temp hasn't worked yet (my 3rd night with it is tonight, so I suspect tomorrow or the next day I'll have data). The EDA scans seem to be pretty darn accurate. When I'm alone I have no EDA, but when I'm at work I'll have several EDAs in a session. I like the ability to log how I feel. Someone said they didn't like the emojis. I love them. I have a mood tracking app that also uses emojis so it works for me.

I do miss some of the stuff you could see in the today app. Like tapping on the exercise widget and getting more with the V2. On the sense it tells you to open the phone app after taking a good 5 seconds to open the today app.

It IS extremely comfortable. The band is so nice! I think the Sense has great potential. I like the feel of it, I'm not a huge fan of the squircle, I liked my V2 shape better. But the Sense makes up for it with a beautiful screen. So there's some give and take. I definitely don't think it's worth the price tag, but I'm also not going to send it back because I do like it. I think once all the features are available, it will be closer to the value of the price tag.

Hope that helps.

So is the ECG and the google assistant  the only things that's coming in late 2020?

So far I am happy with mine. I posted some thoughts and comparisons to Charge 4 on reddit:

I received mine on Saturday. I set up a separate account to compare stats with my Charge 4.

Comparing the stats-

Steps - I got around 200 more steps on the Sense. Who knows which is more accurate.

Exercise - I did an orangetheory workout yesterday where I used both Fitbits plus my orangetheory Beat Burn. Again, who knows the exact accuracy the 3 of these, but the Sense and OTF band were closest together while the Charge for would spike up 10 to 20 higher at points.

GPS - Took a walk in the afternoon and ran the two FItbits along with Strava on my phone. I couldn't really see when the charge GPS kicked in but the Sense kicked in after walking about 15 steps. Time will be slightly off since I started them at different times

SENSE - Distance - 2.56miles Time 52mins

STRAVA: Distance - 2.5 miles Time 51:57

CHARGE 4- Distance - 2.78miles Time - 52:05

NOTE - I walked through a garage and shopping mall to reach a boardwalk to walk on so I think that may cause the difference. I will test Sense and Strava together at just a park this week.

Today I only used Sense and Strava for a walk and showed .2 miles of a difference between the two. But I was inside a post office for a while and walked through the mall again.

SLEEP -

Sense - Sat night - 5:48 Sun Night - 6:54

Charge 4 - Sat night - 6:03 Sun Night - 7:02

The Sense was closer to reality, but both seem to include my time on the in the AM as sleep, the Charge 4 being worse about it.

New Features I Love:
- Find my phone!! No longer have to have my husband call my phone. Wish it had more of a range though.

- Being able to change the watch face directly on the watch. And to be able to store up to 5 faces.

- The font for texts and emails is so much easier to read than on the Versa and Charge 4.

What I don't Like:
- The band. While it's nice that it tucks under and isn't dangling, it's more complicated to get on. I pre-ordered a sports band though, which won't arrive for another month.

So far I am very pleased with the Sense. I am so happy to have Alexa back in my life. My Versa 2 died in the Spring on a cheap charger I bought from Amazon. Avoid chargers for Amazon!!!!

Also do you know if Sense tracks doing a jump rope work out? I read somewhere you might have to log in by yourself. Maybe that's something I will have to see.

My 1st smartwatch and still undecided if I'll keep it. I've had it since Friday. Disappointed there is no Google assistant yet, can't take blood oxygen at any time, seems laggy, and GPS disconnects alot.

Ive only had mine since Monday, so 2 days, and this was an upgrade from my original Versa (which was faultless and still worked perfectly). So far I like it, visually it’s sleek and beautiful, comfy but I have a Milanese steel magnetic band coming, as this is my preferred band type.

Data seems to correlate quite well with my old Versa.

The only thing I really don’t like is the side button. It gets constantly activated when weight training and frequently pauses the workout. I have had to turn off the long and double press options but there needs to be an option to lock it during exercise. I never had any issues with the Versa buttons.

Other than that I like it.

Hello 🙂

How do I like it?

Overall, it is a huge upgrade from the Flex 2 that I was wearing.  The step counter is much more accurate and the heart beat sensor gives me a lot better feel for how my workouts are going and knowing how hard I am pushing.  I have thought that the sensor may be off at times and I have seen it jump around a lot at times which seems like a bug; however, for the most part it's pretty accurate.  The manual exercise feature is very nice and I can watch the top of the screen to make sure the GPS is connected before I start my run.  The watch does everything for the most part that I would like it to do and I think most of the bugs and things people are complaining about will work themselves out during hotfixes and firmware updates (minus GPS preciseness.  I think that has to do with the actual GPS sensor in the watch but I could be wrong).  I think it's a great upgrade from what I had and I think I will be happy over the long run with it.  I have an android and the phone notifications have worked just fine for me.  I will probably be ordering a second one as a gift for my wife for Xmas! 🙂

Things I don't like?

I do not like how I have to remember to switch to the SPO2 watch face every night in order to get my SPO2 reading because I've already missed a few nights because of this. (I know, first world problem lol).   The GPS accuracy is off as well.  I was used to my Garmin Forerunner 410 which always had me spot on the roads when I was running and gave a super accurate run distance.  I noticed the fitbit makes me look like I just walked out of a bar at 4am and stumbled my way through peoples yards and no where close to the road lol.  The only other thing that I would like to see is the ECG app; however, it is not out yet (not really a problem, just something I wanted at launch).  These are really the only three grievances I have.  I've been very happy with the watch itself!

I like the squared look. The screen brightness is ok, it could have been brighter though. The screen resolution is good. The quality and feel are also good.

The band is mostly comfortable.

I don't like the OS, it is sluggish, choppy. The interface is a bit 90's.

The sleep tracking yes accurate. The GPS sucks (so far).

The heart rate is either too accurate or questionable.

There seems to be an over-estimation of calories burned.

Touch response is good. Tap to wake up works if you are hulk. (It takes a beating to wake up).

Looks a bit unfinished. The oxygen sensor seems good(?) but no O2 on-demand (yet?).

People think I am wearing an apple watch, which is a plus 🤣.

Temperature sensor works ( good or not I don't know. It will show whenever I get a fever)

There are 3 things the watch is supposed to get this year:

  • ECG
  • Google Assistant
  • Ability to take phone calls on the watch (Android only)

Update on my review above. I contacted Fitbit about the transcription error with voice to text and they had asked me to take a pic of the error I get. When I tried to do that, the Voice commands worked just fine! (Go figure LOL)

I was hesitant to purchase based on reviews I read. However, I caved and bought it from Best Buy last week. I've been wearing is since Saturday and I came from a Garmin Vivoactive 3.

  • This is my first Fitbit since the Alta, and definitely the best Fitbit I have owned.
  • The inductive button is a bit annoying, but I've gotten used to it and have a pretty good success rate in triggering it. I don't think that excuses the fact that it was just poor placement, though. That said, I don't think it should be a deal breaker for anyone, by any means.
  • Resting heart rate seems to be pretty spot on when compared to manually measuring my heart rate and compared to wearing my Vivoactive 3 on the opposite wrist. From a resting/general movement perspective, it seems more accurate than my Vivoactive 3. I did one notice a random spike on the Sense itself, when I was just sitting around, but it never registered in the app, so I'm not sure what that was about. Maybe a glitch of some sort. I do know that it was not accurate, though.
  • I have no used the GPS yet, so can't comment there.
  • During indoor cycling workouts, I have definitely noticed some of the issues pointed out by dcrainmaker. The Sense, as of now, doesn't do a great job of picking up intense increases in efforts. It lagged behind my chest strap by a few seconds. Generally, though, over the course of my workouts, it is within a few beats per minute of my chest strap. For serious athletes, this might be an issue.
  • The OS seems fine to me. Its not iOS quality but I also have not noticed any of the major bugs or lag that some people have mentioned.
  • Things like sleep, skin temperature and some of the other new data reporting seems to be working fine for me so far. I can't speak to the accuracy of skin temperature, SpO2, etc. (I don't think anyone really can), but it seems consistent.
  • I haven't used the Alexa feature and probably won't, to be honest. Ditto to when Google Assistant comes.

Overall thoughts are that I'm glad I purchased the watch. It's an improvement over what I had, for what I was looking for in a watch. If you're a serious athlete who is looking for in-depth training metrics, etc. get a Garmin. If you want a solid smartwatch experience and are on Android (or are just opposed to the Apple Watch) with good health tracking and a lot of data, the Sense is a good choice.

I will say that I think that Fitbit has overpriced the device by maybe $50 or so.
