How does the ECG App work on my Sense?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just a curious event to relay. Yesterday I went in to my doc's for an ECG not thinking about the functioning of my watch. I have only had it for two weeks and am still learning all the functions.

Apparently my watch read on the tech's computer screen and she closed it out so she could see her own ECG unit. I never anticipated that the "strange unit" as she said was my watch, but later in the evening when I was going to do my own ECG the app was gone! I tried to reload it from the list of apps, but it would not load on my phone. Fitbit helped me reboot things by restarting both my phone and the Sense so it is back up and running, but that is not really the issue.

If my watch is interfering with the units in a health setting, then I need to be aware of that and make sure I don't have it with me in those settings. ??

Questions for the community... has this happened to anyone else? If the app is "running in the background" and is turned off before I enter a medical setting, will that solve this issue? Finally, how far can the watch transmit through the air? Do I need to worry if the ECG or other unit is not directly in the room with me?

Thanks Everyone

Hi @SenseApp

I have used my Sense's ECG app a lot. I also did ECGs in a hospital while wearing my Sense and what you describe never happened to me.

As far as I know, the ECG app works only after you started it in your Sense. It takes readings for 30 seconds and than stops. Some time later, it sends the ECG to your phone, but I don't know exactly how. Only that there are bluetooth and/or Wifi connections involved and maybe a Fitbit server somewhere. I'm almost 100% sure the ECG app is not taking readings continuously all the time.

Is it the bluetooth (watch and/or phone) that is interfering? Is it the Wifi? I don't even guess.
