It seems anytime I look at the App on my Iphone 13 it says either searching or syncing. Shouldn't this device stay synced? I've had times I get text messages on my phone, but noting on the Sense. I look in the app, wait for it to sync, and then the messages start appearing. I've done the restart the phone, delete & put back in Bluetooth, deleted the app and reinstall, basically every troubleshooting step in the past. I would expect this device to stay synced as long as I'm within bluetooth range of the phone.
Anyone have a solution to this?
I'm tempted to get the Sense 2 that's on sale, but wonder if I will have the same issues.

Maybe a question of understanding of "sync" meaning/definition. When app says "syncing", that means all data going through wifi to main Fitbit database where all data is permanently stored. But that is not a continuous operation, which would require continual use of wifi. That happens automatically throughout the day, don't know how often, or when you drag down of the 'Today' screen of app, or when open app (if ever actually close it). It seems what you are talking about might just be having bluetooth connection between phone and tracker. That really should always be in effect as long as they are within bluetooth range of each other.
Not sure that really addressed your issue or helped, but wouldn't expect Sense 2 to be any help.

Hi @TonyMan - in addition to what @JohnnyRow says, the watch has a permanent Bluetooth pair with the Fitbit App and this enables it to talk to the app anytime it is in range.
So when say "stay synced" perhaps you mean stay paired.
After setup and establishing a pair in fact it does stay paired. But if it is out of range it can't talk over Bluetooth during that time.
When it is syncing it is trying to transfer information, or rather looking to get the latest information.
It is normal every time you go to the app it says syncing or searching, as it does a manual attempt to connect with watch in order to show you the most up-to-date information. It doesn't necessarily mean data hasnt been transferred automatically at other times.
Any issues you currently have won't be cured by a Sense 2, as they are most likely related to the phone firstly, and secondly the Sense 2 doesn't have all the features of the Sense.
Lastly it's possible that if you swipe the watch face to the right to get to Quick Settings you may have Sleep or Do not disturb enabled which would stop notifications coming to the watch.
If you want to check for connection problems you can use the SimpleCheckUp app from the Gallery. This will enable you to see on the watch if in fact it can talk to the app and when it last "synced" or transferred data.

Thanks for the info. I looked for the simple checkup app, but couldn’t find it, even on a search. Any clues on where to find it.

As an iPhone 13 user, I have some ideas for you.
The Sense has status indicators that will let you know if you lost your Bluetooth connection to your phone. Do you have them on? Go to the Settings app on your Sense > Display. Swipe up to Status Indicators. This information might help you -- if you lose your Bluetooth connection, you'll see an icon that is a white phone with a slash through it.
Lastly, when everything is working as it should, your Fitbit syncs to your phone every 15 minutes. I know this from experience. My first smartphone wasn't supported and I needed to sync with my computer. I could see this information on my web dashboard.
