Long time user moving on here, what about you?

I was just wondering what other users of Fitbit are doing in regards to some of the strange new changes going on.  Things like the odd handling of the SPo2 sensor, features like music on watch being moved behind a pay wall, and the removal of physical buttons.  Not to mention a lot I am hearing about very bad accuracy on heart rate accuracy.

I have had a number of fitbits and had a sense preorder but I ended up cancelling, and I was just wondering am I the only one?  Are others jumping ship as well, and if so where are you going?  I love the Versa form factor and long battery life, and am holding out hope that these things will be fixed but well...I am losing hope on it.

How are all of you doing with it?

With such a long experience with Fitbit, why did you preorder :D? It's a pattern that devices are being rushed into the market, half-baked and with features "coming soon" or "sometimes never". Why rush with buying a new device before even the manual is published? I will probably never understand why people do it and get burnt and then they will do it again and again. Is it so hard to wait a month or two, read reviews, see Amazon reviews, check the forum, and then decide whether to buy the device or not? I'm just curious because lots of complaints are from users who have been with Fitbit for many years 🙂 They should know better, shouldn't they?

I moved on before my Ionic died and since then I use two watches: Suunto Spartan WHR Baro and Garmin Fenix 6 (I don't need to wear both, usually I keep one aside, just connected to the same HR sensor, PolarH10 strap can accept 2x BT connections simultaneously). For a while, I owned Polar VantageV but sold it. It was good, just I didn't need a third watch (but I use Polar bike computer). My case may be different however as I am no longer a target audience for Fitbit. I'm more into advanced sports watches rather than all-around activity trackers. I don't need to count steps or have reminders to move 🙂 Yes, I started with Fitbit (Charge 2), it was my very first fitness tracker and until now I can't deny that it was a great help in becoming fit (I counted steps, needed reminders back then :D) but after that Fitbit had nothing more to offer. I'm still here (forum) observing how things will change for Fitbit (especially when Google takes it over). Whether they will get direction closer to my expectations or will divert even more. It is interesting to watch. I'm not saying "no" to getting a Fitbit device in the future but looking at it now, the company isn't interested in the features like connectivity with external sensors (HR, footpod, bike computers, bike sensors, for me, it's a number one), better analytics, more data (running still has no cadence, no support for power-based training, no complex intervals, no way to export non-GPS activities etc.) and being less prone to damage (this is where Suunto shines - this watch went through hell and has no single scratch). Fitbit on the other hand improves features I am not interested in. Sleep tracking - great but I see no benefits of it (after opening my eyes I know how well I slept without watch telling me that :D), food tracking - I do that occasionally but MFP is a lot better here in the UK (barcode scanning, has this been improved at all for the UK?). I need advanced sports tracking and Fitbit doesn't offer that but if the future will bring such a device then I may give it a go (but not preorder or buy on the release day ;)).

If you want to move on, don't jump into the unknown, read reviews, maybe borrow a different device, speak with other users, find pros and cons, and then get the device Those are not cheap toys and cost us hard-earned money. And do not preorder something that is not yet on the market 😄 It's not only Fitbit to deliver unfinished and rushed products. Waiting now pays off later.

Fitbit always jumps the gun on device release fright before their stock/company earnings release so the sales of the new device push the company into a better light. Fitbit's EPS is expected to be released on Nov. 4

The issue isn't the pre order folks, it's that the product design seems to have changed and it has the worst on release day reviews I have ever scene.  I am a computer tech and have scene a ton of devices launched just fine over the last 15 years.  Hiccups are one thing, stupid designs are another, as is a change in the dynamic of the company.  Versa 1 and 2 worked just fine right out the box for me and my wife but this sounds like a poorly thought out product with some very odd things, like the sp02 sensor and that button.

So, I would really rather hear what everyone is doing given the current issues and design changes.  If you are sticking, that's cool.  If you have moved on to a completely different type of product that is cool as well.  Just wondering what people are doing.
