No repeat option for Sense Interval Workout

I am outrageously frustrated right now. I dont understand why fitbit would employ people in their customer service areas- phone/chat -to troubleshoot issues with their devices when the people clearly dont use the devices themselves or questionably even exercise at all?

i previously had a Charge HR 2,3,4 and now the sense.
the interval workout exercise tracking feature allows you to change the settings of the workout by letting you choose the times for - MOVE, REST and then how many times you want to repeat the move/rest times you've just customized:
example: move 30 secs rest 30 secs repeat 5 times for a total time of 5 mins.

when i had the charge, once the total time (5mins) of the interval time set finished, it would show an arrow button indicting you could tap it and it would 'repeat' the interval time set(do over), aka, you would do another 5 mins. the sense is not showing the 'repeat' arrow option at the end of the interval time set, it merely shows a button at the bottom that says 'done' which when you click on it, you go all the way back out to your home screen and interrupts the exercise as you have to navigate back through everything to start the recording/timer over.

the point of that repeat feature is because generally interval workouts (HIIT routines) require you to do things like, 5 different exercises(hence the 5x repeat setting): 30 sec move, 30 secs rest of each exercise- and you should do 3 rounds of those timed sets with a 1 full minute of rest in between the rounds giving you a total workout time of 17mins. (5mins +1min rest +5mins+1min rest +5mins=17mins total)

when you view the exercise details from your fitbit app you can see that it understands there is supposed to be a 'repeat' of rounds/sets because it will record how many times you 'repeated' the custom set interval times. notice in the attached picture it says the exercise lasted 4 mins, and was repeated '0x times' because my sense is NOT providing the repeat option that the CHARGE HR prompts you with when the set is done. (my sets were 30sec / 20sec x5 =4mins)

i attempted to contact customer service via both chat and phone and neither of them understand anything about interval workouts (that they are supposed to be done in rounds/sets) or even that the detail view of the exercise shows it is SUPPOSED to be repeated rounds/sets. they continually told me it says '0x repeat' because i didnt set the custom time to repeat. i tried to explain to them it was set, and it did in fact repeat 30sec move/ 20secs rest/ (5) times in a row recording a total time of 4 mins but that the 'do over' arrow function allowing me to do another round of the same times to get a total time of 12mins isnt working and isnt recording but they dont seem to understand THATS why it says the exercise was repeated '0x times' and THATS what i want fixed and am having an issue with.

the last 4 times ive had to call fitbit over device issues- they have done nothing to resolve the issue, they barely understand the issue, and they just tell me the same 'try again tomorrow and if the issue persists call us back' which is stupidly unhelpful because if the issue isnt resolved whatsoever from me calling or chatting with them why would it magically be fixed the next day???

im so angry. i have tried to stick with fitbit over apple but i just cant do it anymore.
if anyone has any idea how to fix the sense issues please let me know.

i am aware, i can simply change the intervals to repeat 15times instead of 5 times giving me the total time im aiming for, but thats not the point and it does not allow the 1 min rest in between sets when it is customized in that way. attached photo shows i had to restart the exercise every time i wanted to complete a 4 or 5 min set and that merely restarting the same exact interval workout also does not alter it recording '0x repeat' on the activity.

Hi there, @leesalei.

Thanks for the detailed information, the screenshots provided and the time taken while contacting our Support team. I see where you're coming from and I apologize for the experience that you've had. Please know your feedback won't go unnoticed as it'll help us to work and improve our services.

Before anything else, let me explain that currently you can set the intervals (move and rest) and their repetitions on the Sense. However, it's not possible to repeat the complete interval time set once you've finished your exercise, meaning that you'll need to start a new interval workout from the Exercise app each time you want to do it. I understand how helpful it'd be to have this option available, and my best advice is to share this idea in the Feature Suggestions board so our developers can take it into consideration for new updates or product development.

That being said, it's odd that the Fitbit app is displaying 0x repeat and to investigate this, may I know the model and OS version of your phone? Also, just in case you haven't done so, please give a try to the following:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Check if the Fitbit app is updated.
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and log back into your account.
  5. Pull down on the screen to force a manual sync and check your details one more time.

Hope this helps.

i am currently running the most updated version. i have logged out, of the app and the desktop site, logged back in, restarted my fitbit by holding down the side button, restarted my fitbit by shutting down the device from the settings menu, rebooted my phone, made sure both phone and sense device were fully charged and nothing has changed.

im using an apple iphone 12 pro with ios version 15.2 (there are no ios updates available beyond the 15.2)

i just don’t understand why the repeat of the complete interval set was an option on the charge which prompted after the set interval times completed but the sense is lacking this feature despite being more expensive.

@leesalei I had no idea there was such a feature in previous models. Looks like yet another sports tracking feature removed. Word of advice - if you need to customize your intervals then you may consider watches which support complex intervals/workouts on which you can set up your whole workout any way you want. Your requirements may be going beyond the Fitbit sports tracking scope.

@t.parker

i really tried to stay with fitbit and im so disappointed that my (super basic fitness needs) are reaching beyond or can’t be met by a device that i thought was supposed to be a fitness tracker first, and a smart watch second.

i really had high hopes when google bought fitbit because i thought surely google will come in and push needed and necessary features out way faster than the years and years it’s taken fitbit to progress the smallest most obviously wanted things (like gps wrist tracking so you aren’t required to have your phone inches from your tracker) but sadly, i don’t see anything google has improved for fitbit.
