Poor battery life AND buggy exercise/GPS

I know the battery life being nowhere near that advertised has been addressed before, but wondering if anyone has more advice or I got a particularly buggy one.

Got my Sense a couple of weeks ago after my Versa 2 abruptly died. Don't know why I keep buying them when everything breaks!

The long life was a big factor in choosing the Sense, but I'm getting maybe 3 days out of it? The percentage just flies down. Haven't taken calls, have it set to dim with a timeout of 8 seconds, light vibration. I went to the exercises on the watch and turned off GPS for each one very laboriously. Despite this, I've been 5 minutes into walking somewhere to feel a buzz and it's saying "exercise. GPS connected". Don't even know how long it stays on for. I then went to the app (Android) and turned off auto detect for every exercise except elliptical, even though it's losing me one of the very basic functions of the watch.

Previous threads suggested SpO2 monitoring can also be a factor, so that's another one I might try. Turned off microphone, it's a regular (non-SpO2) display, use barely any extra functions.

Anybody got other ideas? And how on earth can I make the GPS stay OFF? I don't understand why it's made so difficult when they could have just had...on and off options.

GPS still turning on if I run a few steps, even though I've toggled it off in every single exercise.

Battery still flying down.

It's turning into an expensive, annoying pedometer.

I know sense has built in GPS but since turning that off from sense does not work, try the phone.

I have no idea if this will work but worth a try.

For iPhone

  1. Open Settings > Privacy.
  2. Tap Location Services.
  3. Tap the Fitbit app.
  4. Change location access to While Using the App instead of Always.

For Android

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Choose Apps & notifications.
  3. Choose App Info (or the option to show all installed apps.)
  4. Scroll down and tap on Fitbit.
  5. Select Permissions.
  6. Choose Location.
  7. Change from Allow all the time to Allow only while using the app.

Thank you! I'll try it. Hadn't thought of going from Android settings. Anything is worth a go at this stage, even though watch seems to insist on turning it on regardless.

Really seems to be a very very glitchy product.
