Sense Heart rate zones differ from active zone minutes

Hello

I am the new owner of a fitbit sense and I have a query regarding heart rate zones and active zone minutes.

When I look at my 'Zone Minutes' dashboard and then click into a specific activity, eg a brisk walk, I notice that the heart rate zones differ from active zone minutes.

Heart rate zone may state:

Peak - 0

Cardio - 20

Fat burn - 36

And then active zone minutes state:

Cardio and peak - 40

Fat burn - 36

It looks to me like active zone minutes are incorrectly doubling the cardio and peak zones?

I would expect, based on this, for my zone minutes to be 56, not 76. Maybe I'm missing something? I've searched but can't find an explanation.

Much appreciate your assistance.

Hi Kimbalilly,

You will probably find the answer in this help file, which explains it very well: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1379.htm

Zone minutes work like points you can earn and the amount of points earned depends on minutes spend in fat burning, cardio and peak zones.

@kimbalilly you get double credit for being in cardio and peak zones. So if you have 20 minutes, you will get 40 AZM. That's the difference between Active Zone Minutes (new metric) and the old Active Minutes.

Hello @kimbalilly Welcome to the Community Forums! @Mateos @Marrrmaduke I appreciate your input!

As @Mateos @Marrrmaduke mentioned, 1 minute in the fat burn zone = 1 Active Zone Minute, 1 minute in the cardio or peak zone = 2 Active Zone Minutes.

If these were the answers you were looking for, I recommend marking them as the best answers. By doing this, other users with the same inquiry will be able to find a faster response.

Have a great day!
